Can Shi Shi camellias take full sun?
For several years I have been looking at a large collection of chalices and candlesticks.
What impressed me most about the chalices is the shape; they are all pretty, and very symmetrical. The only problem is that they take full sun. I was thinking about putting canes of shi shee on the candlesticks, but that seems a little drastic.
Has anybody tried these or any other ideas? I tried it in my back garden and there was not enough space. Maybe if I had a house, but I think there would be enough space if it was big enough.
Well a garden shed will do you good .and you should be able to get something to grow your shrub .just need plenty of sunlight. Not only that, they like the shade. A shed will allow you to create your own greenhouse as well.
If I may offer a suggestion, just for decoration and the feel of an oriental garden.you might consider getting a large Chinese parasol (to give you shade) to help balance out your other trees. Just a thought.
Well, maybe not "quite" enough sunshine. But some people say that growing things directly under a tree is bad for the tree because it uses up the sugar in the tree. This may apply in a small garden, but not for a big tree where the roots spread widely. And you can't keep it off the ground, so it may not be possible to keep it "out of harms way".
If you do get the shi shee canes, and if you've got the land and the room (for the gardener), and if you're willing to invest the money (not much, but still some), I think you could do it, and I'd bet it would look good! I'll bet you could even make it so you never actually saw the tree, you just got some good-looking shade! :-). I would love the shi shee. I tried growing them once on my front lawn. After a week they were all dead and it took 3 months to fix it. That was back when I had no idea what I was doing with planting, landscaping etc.

A dwarf camellia is a fairly low-growing camellia. I have a dwarf camellia that I love, but I don't know its full height. It is about 6 inches tall when it is in full bloom. When it is in full bloom, it is the most beautiful flower you'll ever see. It's color is a very pale yellow-green, and it's shape is oval. When it's in bloom, the leaves are in bud. The plant looks lovely in the winter months as well.
The dwarf camellia is a medium-sized shrub. The dwarf camellia grows between 3 and 6 feet tall and can grow up to 2 feet wide. The dwarf camellia has a very distinctive shape with its rounded leaves and arching branches. The flower comes in various colors from deep green to almost white. There is also a variegated dwarf camellia which is very beautiful.
A dwarf camellia is a very easy-to-care-for shrub. Most dwarf camellias do not require a lot of water. The dwarf camellia needs regular feeding and watering. The dwarf camellia is very easy to care for, and can be planted almost anywhere in the garden. The dwarf camellia also requires little maintenance. The only thing to watch out for is that the dwarf camellia needs sunlight. If the dwarf camellia is planted in the sun, the plant will grow very quickly. In order to protect the plant from damage, you should plant the dwarf camellia in the shade.
