What made Roblox go down for 3 days?

Well, firstly, it was a massive social story.

We'd only been at it for one day. The next day, we did a major server restart to deal with some memory issues on our servers that were related to the new features were adding. It seemed to be causing quite a bit of congestion. Our live chat told us were experiencing connection issues because of the new features. We were already under severe stress with limited resources to fix these issues, so we decided we would disable some of these new features for a couple hours and see if we can fix the issues, all without losing any data or anything like that. In theory this should fix the issues. But there was still congestion and connection issues, and people weren't having fun. The servers became a bit of a nightmare for a few hours.

It didn't work. It seemed to work though, because people were still in game for a while. We were just having too much fun with all the awesome stuff coming out of the new launch. People started getting their cool-looking items again, seeing their characters grow, and even catching up with things they missed. I personally was stuck behind a gate in my favorite arena, waiting for my friend to invite me into a match.

I was pretty stoked to see the new player and user interface being developed for release, which eventually did come, and everyone loved it. Everyone except for me. I hated it! I liked how the old one looked, and it was better suited for my needs.

Then came the final straw. I made a mistake. My friend was playing on his Xbox. I told him he could join me on my PC if he wanted to, but he didn't hear me and logged in to Xbox. He left immediately as he wasn't in the mood to deal with me yelling at him about how he doesn't care what platforms he logs in with! So now I couldn't log into my Xbox! I had made that mistake, I admit it, but I tried to make up for it. I logged in on Xbox Live and played on my computer, all of that good stuff.

At this time, the server was having a lot of congestion problems, which I believe was unrelated to the new features were developing.
