How to use OpenDNS on Android?

Is 1.1.1.1 still the fastest DNS?

I used to use a program called nslookup to test DNS speeds, but lately I've been using BIND instead.

Recently I ran a speed test and the results were very unexpected. Nslookup still holds the top speed, but it's not by much.

A little while ago I tried to look up the dns.example.com domain name at a couple of different sites. When I did so using nslookup it was about three times slower than when I used BIND. I just tested that today and the difference between the two programs is even more surprising.

I know I can use dig to test the performance of a DNS server, but I would like to be able to compare BIND to nslookup performance. How can I run the same test? So, I'm really curious how much faster BIND is than nslookup. I don't remember if the numbers are in a specific order, but the fastest DNS is the one which responds the fastest. If you have any ideas on how I can run my own test to verify this, please let me know.

The problem with this is that it does not give you an accurate idea of the speed at which a DNS resolver would perform. The way that a DNS resolver works is that it connects to a given DNS server, sends a request for the requested host name, waits for a reply, then repeats this process until all the hosts in the zone have been checked. If you're using a DNS resolver, there's no point in it doing any of the above - it's already done it for you. For example, if I want to know the time it takes for DNS lookups for a list of hosts, I start a program that will continuously query the DNS server for the list of hosts and print out the time it took for each lookup. Then I can see how long it takes to resolve all the hosts on the list.
