How do you unlock parental controls if you forgot the password?
I have a rooted Android phone and the user I set up a password for has forgotten it.
How do I change the parental controls on that phone? I tried to get the same user and family settings as the original user, but I can't find them anywhere. I also tried to find the settings to change the user name or reset the phone, but couldn't find anything.
Is there a way to reset the password and unlock the "old" user, so that I can change the settings as I desire? Thanks. The default "locked" parental controls are in the following files: /system/etc/policyoverridefiles/policylock.xml /system/etc/policyoverridefiles/policylockhdpi.xml /system/etc/policyoverridefiles/policylockmdpi.xml /system/etc/policyoverridefiles/policylockxhdpi.xml If you didn't know the password, then I am afraid you'll have to root your phone to gain full access. The only thing that I can think of is using Titanium Backup, then rooting your phone. From there you can clear the data, reset your phone, then restore a backup.
What you could do is go into the "Android File System," and then look for the file that is named "Policylock." Then go back into Settings -> Security -> Device Administrator -> User Account Control -> Advanced -> Password Protection and see if you can find an option to remove or change the password. If that doesn't work, then go into Titanium Backup and see if you can clear the data and restore a backup. Then you would be able to reset the phone, remove any apps you want, change any settings, and then restore the previous backup.
If you want to avoid having to root your phone, then you can do this: 1) Go into the "Android File System". 2) Navigate to the following directory: /system/etc/policyoverridefiles. 3) Here you will see three files named "policylockxxhdpi.xml", "policylockxhdpi.xml", and "policylockhdpi.
How do I reset my child's iPhone passcode?
My son has an iPhone 4 and I changed his passcode. The message I got from the phone is that the passcode is incorrect. However, I have not found where to enter the new passcode and the phone still is locked. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it.

You can either set the passcode yourself or if you have a different phone that is currently in use by your child, you can use the backup/restore option to restore the device.
This question is answered. Expert Answers (1). You can't change your son's passcode. That's why he got a message that says the passcode is incorrect.
