TunnelBear makes a bold claim that their service does not track you, and they use the word honestly in their Terms of Service.

They also claim to adhere to the Do Not Track browser setting. But do they?

You'll see from the above that the page requests information from the URL, Google Analytics (which tracks visits), Google Adwords (which tracks ads), DoubleClick (which tracks the ads) and Adobe Analytics (which tracks the page view). If you're on a PC, they also ask for your name and email address.

They have every right to ask for these things, but these requests make it clear that TunnelBear is collecting information about your computer activity. While it's not unusual for web services to do this, they're asking for a lot more information than most, including your name and email.

The claim that this is a free service is not true. There is a hidden price tag on every TunnelBear page. When you use the service, you're actually paying for the web server, the bandwidth, and other fees. If you use the service, you are spending money on something you didn't need to pay for.

The answer is no.

The site has been caught multiple times by AVAST, the anti-virus company, and is one of the sites that hackers use to distribute the Mirai malware.

As well as being caught by AVAST, it's also a very popular site for distributing the RAT known as Mirai, or sometimes known as Titan or Gadget. The fact that the website was caught by AVAST means it's probably not using a high security VPN service like NordVPN or ExpressVPN, and you should assume that your information is being captured. That being said, TunnelBear works great for what it is designed for, which is just providing an online tunnel, but it does nothing to stop the malware from connecting to your computer, and if you leave the computer on and logged in, they have full control. How Do I Uninstall TunnelBear? As far as removing TunnelBear from your computer goes, the process will be similar to how you would uninstall any other program. Go to your search engine of choice (Google for our example) and search for TunnelBear.exe.
