Why is Mullvad blocking my internet?

I've had an account with Mullvad for almost a year now.

It was an account to use their VPN on linux machines. It worked quite well, but they have changed their payment system recently so that it became impossible to pay with card - only paying with crypto is now possible.

That means I can no longer get my monthly account renewals. But there's another thing that's happening: I pay my monthly invoice in august of 2023 - a full year ago! Then I suddenly start getting blocked. The only way I've found so far to do anything about it is to pay with BTC and send them the amount. That's really not a solution - a lot of people just don't know BTC and it's still a "wtf" payment system if you ask me. And they're just letting me sit here like a fool while people are able to bypass their payment system and do whatever they want with my connections - all my stuff.

This is what they did to me (they blocked multiple times over a period of time until I actually thought they fixed the payment system and I could actually cancel): I didn't have a credit/debit card on my wallet so I needed to send them some amount of btc. They took my BTC from my btc wallet and just added 0.0002950 BTC to my balance. Then they sent it back to me saying I had to pay my next month's fee. So they charged me 1.3 BTC, which is less than the fees I'd pay with my credit card at the end of the month. And then when I tried to do something with my phone they just blocked it, and when I logged into my desktop with my wallet they showed me 0.0002950 BTC again. After 3 weeks or so I got used to it and then I started getting blocked all over again.

I was told by a staff member at one point that it must be possible to reverse this. My old monthly invoices were from July or August of 2023, and since then I've had access to my accounts. (They also told me in an email in january that they've been fixing all of the glitches since may of 2023. They kept telling me in their website chat as well, to no effect).

Is it possible to reverse this? How do they know which accounts were actually paying me in 2016?

How do I let Mullvad through my firewall?

I recently received a support request from a customer who had a couple questions regarding letting Mullvad use my internet connection. Unfortunately, I am not able to offer support for the service, as I have not signed up for a subscription myself. I can only point him in the right direction, and hope that some of you reading this will be able to assist him with this issue. I thought I would write an article to cover the bases, so to speak, and get an idea of how Mullvad works.

Mullvad is one of many services offering free torrenting on a subscription basis. The basic idea is that you pay a small monthly fee, and you get access to your own private torrenting network of millions of tracks. This should save you lots of time, as all you need to do to start downloading is to navigate your browser to a popular track file on the torrent, and it'll start uploading it straight away.

The biggest advantages of using a torrenting service are speed and privacy. When using a public torrenting service such as The Pirate Bay or the BBC, every other computer user will also be uploading and downloading data. This can seriously slow down speeds, and make sharing files with friends a complicated affair. You can avoid all of this by installing the software required to connect to Mullvad's private torrent network. This software is then downloaded via your browser when you log in to your account.

Your subscription details will be automatically sent to the server that hosts the torrent. These are stored in a database, and you can change them at any time by logging into your account at mullvad. There are a few important things to note when setting up your subscription.

Note that the number of torrents you get is dependent on how many of your friends have subscriptions, and on the size of the files you download. To install the software, you need to be running a recent version of Windows (Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8), and it needs to be installed as a service, otherwise it will not work properly. You need to allow the software to start automatically at boot. There is no easy way to do this directly. What you need to do is to create a service in your Control Panel, by right-clicking on Computer and selecting Manage.

Does Mullvad VPN work with Netflix?

Mullvad VPN is not working with Netflix.

We will have to pay for it. You can't just use your normal Netflix account, and when you enter Mullvad VPN in your browser's address bar, your connection gets changed to Sweden. So far, there is no way around it. Even if you change the server settings in your VPN profile to Sweden, it does not work either. I have also tested Mullvad VPN on an American IP address, and it still does not work with Netflix.

How can Mullvad VPN be so wrong? We have done our best to try to figure this out, but we are struggling to understand the problem. Netflix may just be really fussy about which VPN it can connect to, or there may be something more sinister at work here. It seems that Mullvad VPN has a few problems:

Using a Swedish IP address. Changing the server setting in the VPN profile to Sweden does not work. When you look at Mullvad VPN in the browser, your connection should show up as being from Sweden. In my case, it shows that it's coming from Finland.

Mullvad VPN does not work with Netflix when you use an American IP address, and it's also pretty easy to see that your connection is being redirected. So far, Mullvad VPN is not working with Netflix, and using the server setting to Sweden doesn't seem to help at all. What do we know about Mullvad VPN? There are a few things that we know. Firstly, we know that Mullvad VPN is supposed to be quite good. They seem to have a fairly strong reputation for their VPN services, and their clients are free and open source. Secondly, the Mullvad website says that their servers are based in Sweden. Thirdly, Mullvad VPN's CEO, Fredrik Mullvad, gave an interview to TorrentFreak about how Mullvad VPN works and why he started it:

"We are not censoring the internet, it's the opposite. We try to keep the internet open for everyone and have a neutral network."

He also said that "the most important thing is that it's a Swedish service and Swedish-based, and we're proud of that.
