If the window of the browser is maximized and the bottom bar with the menu is displayed, then I just get back the top bar in black with the title bar displayed. The main screen (with open/minimize/close icons) stays visible though.

Does anyone know a fix for this? It doesn't happen with every page that is loaded, only some. But then some will display this error as well. If it helps, the sites that do it are not even blocked by my security software.

PS. I tried to disable the network manager on my computer, thinking it might have something to do with that, but after rebooting it did not solve the issue.

I use Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit. I also have a second OS X, but that one works fine. It has all settings in Firefox disabled, although I use the built-in system proxy settings all the time, and that OS X version shows the browser screen normally. I also tried disabling all of them, but that didn't help either. The problem with disabling the proxy settings is that I can't surf on the internet, since everything seems to be coming from one proxy, but I don't care that much because my connection is working anyways.

It might help, that there is no firewall configured. This happens only when it does not recognize IP that is assigned to your DNS by your router. I think this happens for only a single IP address since it is the one assigned to the client instead of the one assigned to the DNS.

Disable proxy settings and restart your computer. Do try and ping a site that works outside the proxy and see if this helps.
