Where did my iTunes go?
I'm not sure if this will be seen as a dumb question or a silly one, I am not used to this type of thing.
Recently my wife went on vacation and when she left I wanted to go in a few nights later to see how many songs we had listened to. I was shocked to find that we had gone from about 100,000 to only 10,000 all for the same time period and all I did was update to the latest release. How is this possible, where did my 100s go.
Also, is there a way to get back to this level and if so what would it take and how do I do it? iTunes isn't really an app where you can see/browse your library, nor will it store your settings, so just hitting refresh in iTunes will have no effect on this. What it does do is store your last selected album (eg, if you were playing at one particular album, and then pressed shift-home and then played another album, the previous album would be listed under Last Selected Album). Also, you could go through and select songs to be added to a particular playlist, and then hit save. These changes aren't always saved, but they don't really need to be - you've set them for the current session.
You should open iTunes again and just hit the "Refresh" icon on the main screen (next to Apple and the gear). If there are songs missing, select the song to play and then hit "Add to New Playlist." This will put those songs into a new playlist you can see and manipulate from the home screen.

From the command line: For Macs: open a terminal window (Applications/Utilities), enter the following commands: # 1) Install Homebrew. The Homebrew package manager is used to install things like pip and other utilities. If your Mac doesn't have XCode you may need to install it. For Lion and higher run:
/bin/bash -p -c "xcode-select --install". # 3) Install pip. When pipenv was added, this is the only easy way to set up Python pipenv.7
# 6) Install iPython, pip3, and set up environment.5 # 7) Install PyMongo. If you already have boto installed, this will be unnecessary.
Does iTunes still exist?
Back when it was originally created, the company had a clear mission: Provide an easy way to manage, organize and enjoy your digital music collection.
But after Steve Jobs sold the company to the legendary entertainment industry magnate, Barry Diller, he said that he no longer believes in Apple's mission. Instead, the iTunes store would be designed to be a gateway to other services like Netflix and Amazon Video. And then last year, after years of decline in sales, it became clear that Apple had lost its way. It turned iTunes into a retail store with a vast selection of CDs and downloaded music.
And now iTunes is closing. The company says it will close down the iTunes music store in April, leaving just the app store and Apple Music as the only way to buy music from Apple. But that's hardly the end of the company, as many services will continue to use Apple's cloud servers. (You might remember, for example, that when you purchased a song through iTunes on your phone, the music was sent to iCloud, then loaded into your library.)
There are two reasons that Apple is killing the iTunes music store. One is to get people to use Apple Music as the primary way they buy music. And the other is to avoid competing against itself.
By forcing all of its users to join Apple Music instead of allowing them to keep using iTunes and Apple Music separately, Apple hopes that these people will start streaming video, movies, TV shows, and other kinds of content to Apple devices in a way that makes sense. But even as it kills the music store, the company still expects its customers to use Apple Music for buying music. How do you think the world should handle iTunes? Or any other company's music store, for that matter? Let us know in the comments. Why Apple wants you to use Apple Music exclusively. While most tech news sites have been reporting that Apple killed iTunes as a store, there has actually been nothing wrong with iTunes iTunes as a service. For years, Apple had already begun to shift iTunes users away from buying music by giving away iTunes Match for free. Starting in 2024, Apple started offering subscriptions to Spotify, a much better alternative for people who prefer listening to music on their phone.
