How do I enable external data in Excel for Mac?
I've been using Excel for Mac for a while now, but I'm a complete noob when it comes to working with external data.
I have a .csv file that I need to import into my Excel spreadsheet, and I don't know how to do it. I haven't used Excel for Mac in a while, and I can't find anything about how to work with external data in the Help.
In the File menu you have an option to Import External Data. It's in the section "Data".
Why is get data option not showing in Excel?
I'm getting this error from Excel 2010: There are errors in some of the data in this worksheet.
Do you want to recover the data in this worksheet before you continue? When I click on "Yes" it shows get data option. But when I click on the options, it shows an error box saying: Can not open the "Source" file. The file is either read-only or opened by a different user. (code=80004001) You don't have sufficient permission to access the files required to get the data. Try going to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services and find Excel.exe. Right click on the Excel.exe and go to Properties. The User name that has permissions on that file is likely different than your current one.
How do I extract data from a website in Excel for Mac?
I want to extract the data from a website using Excel for Mac.
The website is quite complex and I want to use just one cell of data at a time. Does anyone have any ideas?
If you have a website that has a Table, just select "table" from the Insert menu then paste it into Excel. It will look like a normal Excel table.
To make it easier to use for your purposes just select the first row and make it a link to the table as you can see here.
Where is get data in Excel on Mac?
You can either use Excel's web query services directly.
These provide a lot of flexibility and you can specify columns from different tables (eg table1.column A, table2.column B).
This will give you a download of the .CSV format on your server with all of the values in the correct columns.
An alternative is to use ODBC to connect to your MySQL database. This will also return a CSV file containing all the data you have provided. The advantage of this approach is that you don't have to set up any web servers or anything of the sort on your local machine.
