How do I manage my Apple account?
There are two main tools to manage your Apple ID. They are: 1) appleid.com/manage. This is the main tool that lets you check when your password is about to expire. It also lets you change your password and access some other features.
2) iOS Device Settings->Users & Privacy->iCloud section->My Apple ID->(Under "Accounts")->View Your Account - it's where your payment information is located (or was at least) as far as ios device settings go. Apple has done away with their online payment feature however, as they had not planned on maintaining it for some reason. They have instead moved these functions to inapp purchases.
From iTunes it goes to the ios settings page from there select the Users and privacy tab. There will be a section titled iCloud. When you choose "View Your Account" you can view the payment information.
IOS devices are no longer tied directly to one Apple ID either. You can now access multiple iCloud accounts on iOS and use them as seperate appleID's without losing your primary appleID. The main account you use to sign-in to apps is the one that holds the most information, though all of it is encrypted.
Edit: To sum it up: All your payment information, Apple ID name, photo and contact information are stored within the appleID. Your email address, phone numbers and addresses are stored within your other Apple ID, however unless there is an issue with one account you do not have to worry about losing your personal data or paying for things twice. Both ID's are tied to the same credit card number, and you can login to both ID's at once.
Can I create Apple ID with Gmail?
Does Apple only allow people to use the iCloud with Gmail or does it work with any email address that uses POP3? If it does work with any email address that uses POP3, can I create an Apple ID with a Gmail account? You don't need to have a Gmail account for the Mac App Store. I created one about six months ago, and it's been fine. There's no issue setting up an Apple ID with Gmail.
It is true that you cannot use Apple's Mail app to send emails from a Gmail account, but that doesn't mean you can't use Apple's Mail service. The Mac App Store app on the Mac App Store website can be used to send emails through Gmail.
Can I log into my Apple email account?
If you had an Apple email account, you could always visit your iWeb page and see your mail. You'd get the new message indicator and all that jazz and you'd know if you have new mail or messages. How I wish this was still possible on iOS 5!
This is because the new iOS Mail App no longer shows your Inbox and your Deleted Items. Rather, you're presented with three options: All Mail This will automatically display all of your unread messages, as well as messages that have not yet been saved (those messages you deleted can still show up). No way to filter mail, just everything.
Mailbox This will show your inbox, just like before. You'll also get a button to go to the All Mail screen, like this: Mailbox View This will show you only your inbox. Your deleted items are still there, but they're collapsed and you'll see a little dot next to the message(s). It's a bit strange and confusing to be sure, but it does work the way I would want my inbox to work, which is with just the default view.
So, unfortunately, the new Mail App doesn't let us log into our Apple email accounts like we did in iOS 4. We can view the Inbox without a problem, but we can't log in or see deleted messages. That's where the Settings app comes in handy.
Open Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Accounts > Add Account. Select iCloud. Add your email account. If you see any of these icons to the left of the Email heading, click that. Don't try to select Email instead of one of those categories, it won't work. You're looking to sync your contacts, calendars and mail, nothing more.
Now you should have an Inbox page that contains your email and has the new indicator: As long as you didn't delete the new message indicator icon, it should tell you if there are any new messages that need to be read or when an important message has arrived. Click the arrow at the bottom of the alert to expand and see the new icons that will tell you about deleted messages and saved messages.
