Will taking selenium help me lose weight?
Selenium helps you live a longer life, lowers your blood pressure and may help you lose weight.
I know these statements sound too good to be true. I can't wait to start using selenium supplements, but before I do, I would like to know the answer to the following question. ? I'm already taking 1,000 mg. Of vitamin E per day, along with L-carnitine. If you know the answer to this question please email me.
Thank you. John. Hi John. Thanks for the info. I'm excited to begin using selenium and have read all the info on it. I haven't been able to locate any scientific studies to support what you are saying, so I'll just have to take your word for it.
It does make sense that you're not sure if it's going to help you lose weight. One thing I thought of is that because of the high risk of heart problems and stroke with high doses of selenium, it is a good idea to take it in the form of a supplement instead of from food sources. I know there are many other minerals that I need to consider using that could potentially help me lose weight, such as chromium and magnesium. Hi Mary. Thank you for your kind words. You are correct about my knowing nothing about taking a supplement of selenium. Thanks for mentioning that fact. I'm excited to begin taking selenium to prevent the common cold and other health issues.
How can I lose 20 pounds in a month with hypothyroidism?
I haven't been on any medicine that I know of, since it was given to me with my IUD and I stopped taking the progestin.
As far as exercising goes, I do a little to walk around or do some yardwork in addition to my regular workout at the gym which consists of cardio 2x a week of some sort with abs. I was just wondering if anybody knew of any other ways to lose the weight.
Re: ? Thanks for your reply I really appreciate it. It has taken awhile because I was kind of worried about the side effects of any sort of medication. Especially since in may have started seeing a few of the side effects. I'm finally doing okay. Still had the heart palpitations for the first few weeks. This will go away I've gotten used to them now so I'll be fine once again. Now I seem to be losing weight again although its not fast I still have some more to lose but I feel like it's getting there. So do you have any suggestions on how to get to where I want to be
I was thinking maybe take a little extra time in the mornings. Would that work for you? I feel like its something. Maybe exercise in the morning instead of working out at night. I'm starting to exercise at the gym for 15 min 2x a week to get some use out of the cardio machines. I guess just what are some suggestions? Thanks.
I wish you the best of luck. It can be done as long as one has a plan, sticks with it and keeps the changes small. If weight loss is the goal, then it is important to make sure you are getting everything you need to achieve weight loss including calories and adequate nutrition. To lose weight slowly, I suggest to eat a lower calorie diet for at least 3 weeks. After 3 weeks, up the caloric intake to whatever level that helps you sustain your lean mass while continuing the low calorie intake. When you decide to begin adding calories to maintain muscle loss, up it to whatever level that will sustain your lean mass at that time. You need to learn to keep your daily calories between 1500 to 1800 calories to lose up to 25 lbs in the first 3 weeks.
