Does Focus () work on Firefox?

I'm trying to check if my form is valid on submit by checking if the form has focus or not. I'm using the onsubmit() function to do this. The issue I'm having is that it doesn't seem to work. I'm currently using this for testing:

. . I've tried looking through the MDN documentation and it looks like it should work, but it doesn't seem to. It works when I remove the focus() method.

I also tried it without the document.getElementById() method, but that doesn't seem to work either.

I know it might be an issue with my version of Firefox (v51), but I can't find any information that tells me if this is an issue or not. Since you are checking the focus inside the submit handler, you don't need to check the focus. You just need to add return true; after checking the focus.

I recently started using Firefox Focus, a new mobile browser that the Mozilla community, the foundation, and a bunch of partners have designed with a couple of goals in mind. Why, you might ask? We see browser choice as a key way to help achieve that goal. So we plan to launch Focus next year on Android with a promise to support other platforms in the future. We think it's important to be a browser that works on mobile devices first, and has always worked on desktop devices.

We want Firefox to support as many people as possible, both now and in the years to come. And that doesn't mean everyone will be using the same browser, or one that works the same way across all devices. It means that it will work on all devices as it evolves, like we do with Firefox on desktop today. We have a responsibility to give people the best browser experience regardless of what device they're using. For Firefox, that's Focus.
