Why is my Stremio not working anymore?
Why my Stremio stop working? Can I fix it? There are many reasons why your Stremio might have stopped working. What causes Stremio to stop working? You might have installed or uninstalled a program that is conflicting with Stremio. If you don't know which program it might be, open Start Menu > Search. Type in Stremio and click the top result. Go to the installed programs folder and delete the other Stremio folders. Delete the program from Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program. Delete the program from Program Files.
Another reason is if you install any third party add-on software. Open Start Menu > Search.
What's the deal with Stremio?
Stremio, the music streaming service has been around for a long time now, since its initial release back in 2023. It's probably the best player for Android out there, especially when it comes to streaming radio and playing songs in the background, and it's still doing a great job. But with new services and devices come new problems. One such problem is an ad that pops up from time to time. This will be fixed soon, but you should know about it now.
The ads can get annoying at times. Sometimes the banner will appear at the bottom or top of the screen, sometimes in the center or the sides. You might not see it right away because sometimes the banner would be hidden by the song title, for example. If you scroll fast enough you might miss it.
This issue won't affect you if you have the Android TV version of Stremio, and if you download it from the Google Play Store, but it will for users of Android phones and tablets. If you keep scrolling fast enough, you might end up seeing the ad. You'll see the following warning message when the ad starts appearing.
Here's how to fix it: Go to Settings. Tap on Stremio > Manage Audio Settings > Select Never. Restart Stremio, this should take care of the ads. If you want to make sure you won't see the banner, then you should set the Manage Audio Settings option to Never. You can always reset it back to Always, if you want to see the ads again.
We're expecting more fixes in Stremio, and it'll be interesting to see how the other platforms (iOS, and Windows Phone for example) deal with the ads as well. I also found a way to completely disable ads, that should work across all Stremio apps, including mobile. You might not want to go through that process, because this is a simple fix and is not hard to do. But in case you want to turn off the ads for good, here's how to do it.

How do I get addons to work on Stremio?
I've been watching on the forums lately that Stremio has "issues" with it's addons. I understand, but what is the proper way of adding addons that work on another service? Like Youtube, for instance. I use the youtube addons, but I can't even install them as they don't want to work. The reason being they work on Stremio if you use a different account. I know this works, but I don't want to create a new account and transfer my video files across. Is there any other way I could get it to work? If not, can I at least make a custom player without addons to use? If not, is there another service I should be using?
I have never tried the youtube addon. But you could get a youtube widget if you click the 'widgets' button on the addons and add the plugin or maybe just use another way.
The only way I know how to do this is by creating a playlist on my other account and uploading the playlist to stremio. This way you don't transfer anything across accounts.
My friend, if you are in need of video playback on your Roku, then I recommend that you use the Player app available for purchase directly on Roku itself. If you must have a dedicated player on your main account (which I will admit that I personally prefer and enjoy), then that's ok.
However, if you need a dedicated player on Roku, which I assume is the basis of why you have Stremio, then there is no reason to have a secondary "player" account on Stremio. You will achieve more than Stremio by using a different player on your Roku. When you go to install, the choice of where to install the player is up to you. If you must have a dedicated player on your main account (which I will admit that I personally prefer and enjoy), then that's ok.
