How do I switch to Chrome Beta?
Note: Chrome beta version numbers will not always start at 49.
To find out the new beta build version number, enter chrome://components/ into your browser. Chrome Beta builds will be identified as 50+ Chrome Nightly builds will start at 57+
The best way to update to the new Chrome Beta builds is to visit the Chrome Web Store and click the "Enable" button for the beta channel. See below for instructions on how to use the Google Play Store. If you previously installed a beta version of Chrome, go to Settings and select 'Update channel'.
How do I update Chrome Beta? If you would like to download the latest version of Chrome Beta, head to the Google Play Store and search for Chrome. Select "Update Now" to download and install the new version of Chrome Beta.
NOTE: Android users will need to add the Google Play Store as an external system and point it to the Android Market page. Once you have that set up, go back to the play store web address and click on the "Update" button.
How do I update to Chrome Canary? The easiest way to get to the latest version of Chrome Canary is to head to the Chrome Web Store and install the latest version. To do this, follow the instructions in the previous section.
Download Chrome Canary. Once you have installed Canary, you will need to create a profile. For instructions, see "Profile Manager".
You can run Chrome Canary directly from the folder it is installed in. You can also load other applications.
How do I update to Chrome Developer? To get to the new Chrome Developer, head to the Chrome Web Store and search for Chrome. Select "Developer" and then "Install" to download and install the latest version.
Note: If you have installed Chrome Canary, it is available here and can be used to create a profile and run Chromium. Open Settings and go to System Advanced. Find Development Tools and select Enable Developer Mode. This will enable you to have access to extra functionality while in Developer mode, including developer tools.
Note: You must have an Android Device to update developer mode. You can only do so from another Android device or emulator.
Open Chrome and press the Menu key to bring up the browser options menu.
Is Chrome Beta any good?
I have a Samsung Nexus 5x (4.2) and I use Chrome Beta, every once in a while it doesn't load, with the following error: I am not able to perform any action, because it freezes. My guess is that it might be an issue on the Google side. It's possible that they don't have enough servers available to handle all the traffic that they are generating.
What do you think? Is it any good? Edit: After the initial freezing, sometimes it will open and work, but sometimes it freezes again. Re: Chrome Beta any good? I've been using it for quite some time now, and I've found it to be quite solid. It's not the fastest browser out there, but the speed isn't the main reason why I use it. I use it mostly to take advantage of the new features and bugs. If it has a bug, I report it, if it has a feature, I like it.
One thing that I've noticed is that when it freezes, it does not freeze completely. I can still use the back button to go back to my last website, and I can also use the home button to go back to Chrome's home page. It's very convenient when your browser freezes.
If you really don't like it, then you can always go back to the stable version. I use Chrome Beta on my phone and it's a great browser. The best part about it is that you can add or remove extensions without restarting your phone.
I tried chrome beta from the store and I liked it so much that I decided to buy a new phone. I've been using it on my nexus 6p and it's a pretty good experience.
There's a feature I'd like to see in chrome that I don't see in any other browsers. When you press the back key and your view is on a tab that's loading or is active, it should keep that tab's current state until the tab is done loading or the tab becomes inactive.
For example, if you have a tab open to play a video and you're listening to music while you're watching the video, when you press the back key it should keep playing the video and pause the music.
How to get beta version of Chrome?
This is a question which has been asked many times on Stack Overflow but there are no satisfactory answers available.
Recently I've also asked the question on Quora but I received no answer so far.
So my question is - How to get the beta version of Google Chrome browser? If possible, I would like to know how do they manage the beta releases for their products and also how to get the beta versions of Chrome if possible. Note: I am not asking about Google Chrome Canary. I am asking for the stable version of Chrome.
Google Chrome provides Beta and Release builds. The Beta version is just a preview of the stable version. If you are running on the beta channel then Google Chrome automatically checks the next day to see if the stable version is out and updates your system.
To get the beta version of Google Chrome, you have to download the source code. Go to and download the source code. Now the sources will be in the directory C:UsersYOURUSERNAMEAppDataLocalGoogleChrome sdksamplesbuild-chrome. You can find the version number here C:UsersYOURUSERNAMEAppDataLocalGoogleChrome sdksamplesbuild-chromechromeVERSION.txt.
In order to get the stable version of Google Chrome, you have to compile the sources. Open the terminal. Navigate to the directory where the sources are. Go to the bin folder (ie C:UsersYOURUSERNAMEAppDataLocalGoogleChrome sdksamplesbuild-chromebin) and compile the sources. Note that compiling the sources requires sudo. Sudo chown root:root C:UsersYOURUSERNAMEAppDataLocalGoogleChrome sdksamplesbuild-chromebin. If you are on Windows 7 and Windows 8, you can follow this guide.
