Is Opera browser VPN real VPN?
Ans: Opera is not a real VPN.
It can pretend to be, but in fact it uses proxies that look like a VPN. It's called an "OpenVPN" proxy because it uses the OpenVPN protocol. It does not support SSL/TLS encryption and does not support IPsec tunneling.
Opera browser can't protect your data (or help if you have a mobile device) like a VPN client can. This means it can't provide you with the private IP address or other advanced services.
Opera Browser & VPN is just another product made by the people at Opera - to make money by collecting the data you send to every website you visit. When they say that they can't protect your privacy, what they mean is that they won't sell your personal information (that was the main reason why I don't trust Opera to protect my private data - which is not much since I use TOR to protect my data). They also hide the fact that it's a free service from you. They do this because they know you'll feel guilty that you're paying for a product that is free.
Opera's latest browser is good because it doesn't require any installation process like Opera Mini did - there is no need for you to click on anything for it to work. Opera Mini was one of the reasons why it took so long for us to find this product - since when we did we couldn't find it.
You should avoid Opera browser as much as possible, and should not use it for online shopping, banking, or other transactions where it's important for you to be secure. If you don't have a router, then it's best you skip this product since it uses a different way of sending traffic, and that could mean you need to change your settings again (you'll need to update your router to allow traffic using a new method). However, if you already have a router, this can become a good choice, because you don't need to change any setting. It will let you use Tor for browsing without revealing your real IP address. It does it by creating a VPN through the web interface. There is a small limitation with it - you can't use it for sites that use cookies, or any sites that require user verification or payment.
The only real difference between this product and Opera browser is the location it resides.
