Which VPN is faster: NordVPN or Surfshark?
In our testing of VPN services, we've seen that NordVPN offers top speeds on most popular routers and hardware.
This is thanks to its advanced encryption, including advanced data compression and obfuscation. Surfshark, on the other hand, offers great speeds on most devices, but its service is only available on a select number of devices and software.
How do they compare? Both NordVPN and Surfshark offer good bang for the buck and excellent customer support. You can check out their packages, prices, and speeds in our reviews.
The following table gives an overview of their performance on both mobile and desktop computers as well as on smart TVs, routers, and NAS devices. NordVPN vs. Surfshark vs. CyberGhost
All VPNs have to share some of the same shortcomings. For example, all VPNs must encrypt your traffic, and they're all throttled by some degree. NordVPN, Surfshark, and CyberGhost are about on par in terms of performance and encryption, which is good news. All three VPNs are highly recommended for use with streaming devices, but the fastest VPNs are Surfshark and NordVPN.
Note that all routers we used in this test have gigabit LAN. If you have a lower-end router, NordVPN may work slower. We recommend testing NordVPN or Surfshark with a gigabit router and see if you get better results.
How to choose which VPN to use. Before you choose your VPN, you have to make sure you choose the right type for your internet connection. Which devices do you need a VPN for? There are several options for a VPN service, but we recommend that you know whether you'll be using the service on a laptop, desktop computer, phone, tablet, TV, smart TV, router, NAS device, smart home device, game console, IoT device, and/or other connected device. If you're planning to use a VPN on multiple devices, you need to consider what type of VPN makes most sense for each device. Below we'll highlight the different types of VPNs and explain the benefits and limitations of each.
Solutions Overview. VPNs are one of the most powerful and versatile services out there.

Is NordVPN faster than Surfshark?
Let's find out
In a previous article, I compared the specs and features of NordVPN and Surfshark.
These two VPN providers are two of the most popular VPNs on the market today.
And if you want to know how Surfshark compares to NordVPN, then this is the article for you! Now let's dive into some numbers to find out which one is faster. What are the specs and features of NordVPN and Surfshark? Both NordVPN and Surfshark offer a lot of different features, but which one is faster? When comparing the two VPNs, it's important to remember that speed doesn't matter as much as security. This is why we won't be using benchmarks to measure speed. Rather, we'll be focusing on the performance of the VPN software itself. Let's dive right in and see how both NordVPN and Surfshark compare on these fronts. NordVPN offers a wide range of features, including: Killswitch. Multiple devices. Double VPN. Zero logging. VPN servers in 60 countries. Unlimited bandwidth. And more. Surfshark also offers a wide range of features, including: Unlimited servers. 24/7 customer support. A 30-day money-back guarantee. However, Surfshark is quite different from NordVPN. While NordVPN offers a double VPN, Surfshark only offers single VPN. You can download Surfshark for Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, and Linux. But you can't download NordVPN for any of those operating systems. Which one is faster? It's time to find out. I tested NordVPN on a 2023 MacBook Pro running Mojave. I used Wireshark to capture traffic to find out which one is faster. The test was done over a 5 minute period and the results were averaged.
Does Nord or Surfshark have easier to use apps?
I'm looking to get the best bang for my buck.
I'm in the market for an all-in-one package. If I can get a decent router and USB 3. But with an HD router that supports DD-WRT, DD-WRT has a pretty easy-to-use web interface. I'm just wondering if Nord is comparable or if Surfshark is better (since it's more expensive).
I've used Surfshark in the past, and it was very easy to use. But it seems like Nord also has a fairly good web interface. So I'm trying to decide which one is better.
Any input is appreciated. Thanks! I own a Asus RT-N16 which I upgraded to DD-WRT. My experience with Surfshark was that their "easy to use" web interface had issues when I needed to do advanced things. Their new interface is much easier to use and has a lot of functionality. I found Nord's apps a little easier to use but I am new to Android so I don't know how similar they are to DD-WRT's apps.
I haven't tried the Surfshark interface on the RT-N16, but I have a couple of friends who have them. It's not as easy to use as the DD-WRT web interface, and it does have a few issues. But it's a bit more powerful as well.
For example, the Surfshark wifi dashboard lets you configure WiFi options in seconds, while DD-WRT needs to go into the Wifi settings, enable WiFi, and then go back to the Wifi Dashboard to change the WiFi password. But with that said, it's pretty easy to set up the Surfshark router. It's not that hard, but it's different.
Which is faster Surfshark or NordVPN?
I guess there is no definitive answer to this. Surfshark might be faster. VyprVPN might be easier to use. It all depends on what your end goal is.
And im sure it is because installed win 7 on it before? But it seems weird to me that it uses 8MB disk :D
What is the difference between NordVPN and Surfshark?
There are many things to keep in mind before purchasing VPN services.
99 a year! Surfshark claims to be the #1 fastest speed VPN provider which is true, but we can't confirm this. When we tested and compared both services, we found that their servers were nearly identical in speeds. So how is Surfshark rated the #1 fastest speed VPN and NordVPN rated #10? Well, the speed of Surfshark is measured differently. Surfshark only measured its own internal average connections speeds and did not take into account of its customer's connection speeds. As far as NordVPN is concerned, a customer who was using a 1Gbit connection should get an acceptable speed of 10Mbps. A 500MB connection should get 25Mbps. This may not seem like a big difference to some people, but it really can make a big difference. NordVPN users can enjoy unlimited browsing without feeling the pinch of lags, while Surfshark customers feel these lags that will affect the connection. If you want an ultra-safe, ultra-fast VPN, Surfshark is the way to go. If, however, you're looking for something that also offers unlimited browsing, then NordVPN is your way to go. Both services let you download torrents but Surfshark has a different approach. Surfshark does not have any torrent support for its free users. Instead, if you are a torrent user, they have a "Torrent Support" service for the paid version of the service. With Torrents, Surfshark users pay for each active torrent track separately, meaning a user that only started 10 torrents would actually pay for 10 torrents of data. NordVPN allows torrenting for free while Surfshark for torrenting is pay per track.
Is Surfshark the fastest VPN?
It can be, according to tests
Surfshark has long been on the frontlines of the public VPN wars.
The company's service is cheap and simple. Just sign up for an account, select a server, and connect to the internet. The results of its testing programs are always controversial, but in our tests, Surfshark consistently delivers fast speeds and solid encryption. You can even use multiple servers at once, which other providers just won't allow. However, Surfshark's speed tests aren't always very accurate.
A more comprehensive look at Surfshark's service and tests is coming up in our review. Right now, we'll just show you the results of our latest tests. We ran several different tests that all resulted in consistent speeds, as well as an overall "score" showing Surfshark's strength in each category.
All test speeds are measured in Mbps (megabits per second) and are the results of the maximum speed we've ever experienced while connected. This is not a constant test speed and is subject to change. The speeds listed are only the max speed were able to achieve during the tests (or if you're connected to LTE, it could be significantly lower).
You'll notice there are two separate numbers: Max and Average. "Max" refers to the single highest speed we measured during any given connection. "Average" is a less-technical term that refers to the speed that we got most often in the tests (and is a good indicator for overall performance). The "Score" in the table shows how well Surfshark did overall. Surfshark performed the best in the security/encryption category, and not surprisingly, the company was the only one to deliver above-average speeds in nearly every category.
Tests conducted by PCMag show that Surfshark offers some of the fastest VPN speeds available on the market. Surfshark, the fastest But Surfshark isn't the only VPN out there. In our tests, NordVPN and ExpressVPN delivered the highest speeds, and both did a very solid job. Surfshark might have given a better overall score on this test, but its performance on the whole wasn't that impressive.
Surfshark's fastest speeds are in VPN apps and web browsers. In apps, it scored highest in overall performance and encryption. Surfshark scored low in connection stability and logging.
