Why is my VPN not connecting to the internet?
My VPN does not connect to the internet, and I have been trying to figure out why for a few days.
I used a VPN because we needed internet at school while using the library. We are using the US Military's "Volecom" VPN connection which we created and used successfully on another computer. However, now when I try to use the VPN on our main computer, it never connects.
We have a router, and it says that it is connected to the VPN. Here is the information we have collected about our network settings: VPN Network settings. Name: Volecom. Subnet Address: X.X Subnet mask: 255.0 Gateway: X.X Type: Point to Point. Here is some information on the other computer we are using to connect the same VPN to and its not working: Other Computer Volecom Network settings. All of our information points to the fact that we do not have the IP address of our router set up in our router. As a result of this, when we connect to the router, our router tells our computer that the network is down because the IP address is invalid. I've tried to change the default gateway, but it keeps reverting back. Is there a way to make the router ignore the subnet mask that we have provided?
Why is Surfshark not connecting on my phone?
Surfshark may not connect for a number of reasons: The app's servers may be too busy.
Your phone doesn't have enough space. The connection is temporarily blocked for security reasons (see below). To get around these issues, try to change the settings on your phone's browser. For example, clear your cookies or change the date and time. If you are experiencing issues with your ISP or phone network provider, you can try to contact them directly for support.
How do I get around Surfshark's mobile restrictions? Surfshark blocks its free service when it detects mobile phone browsers. We're sorry for that inconvenience, but please use our website to sign up. Using the mobile version of our site will trigger our web-based server software and you won't need to download the app from your app store.
What about using my router's browser? Using a browser that's not a mobile browser isn't going to help you. A router browser isn't intended for surfing the internet, as it doesn't have any graphical interface to manipulate your data.
There's also no software installed on your router and it won't load other web pages, like surfing a mobile site. It just handles the network traffic of your computer.
Using your router's browser isn't an option because it won't load websites. If you still wish to bypass Surfshark's restriction, you'll need to use our proprietary network.
