Does Internet speed meter drain battery?
I am a college student. I need to be on the internet for my college work. Unfortunately, my computer has no battery and it is quite inconvenient to charge it every time I need to use the internet. The Internet speed meter of my computer (a Dell Inspiron 1525) says that it will not drain my battery if I keep the internet on even after I use it for a long period of time. Is this true? If it is, what percentage of battery will it drain?
Re: ? The Internet speed meter of my computer (a Dell Inspiron 1525) says that it will not drain my battery if I keep the internet on even after I use it for a long period of time. This is because your computer monitors your CPU usage to decide when to turn the computer off. If you can keep your usage low, you'll get a longer life out of your computer. If you can't, you'll probably need to spend more money on a larger battery to keep it powered for long periods of time.
If you're concerned about your battery life, try a different computer that has a battery or go out and buy an external battery. AFAIK, I don't know the specific reason why your computer chooses to power down itself, but as you say, it has a built in battery so it's not a problem. You might have a more powerful computer than the one you've got, but it would be good to get a better understanding of what is going on before upgrading hardware. How do I turn on my Internet speed meter on my Motorola?
How do I make voiceover my Motorola? Is my modem the right one? Help!
I have had these issues for the past few days. The thing is that, last night everything suddenly stopped working (on the internet) and then later in the morning I discovered that no longer it could access the internet through the cable TV box. So this morning I took it to a friend at Smart, a wireless internet company here in Manila to fix it. However after he put all the files, all they did was to tell me that there's no cable connecting the modem to my Motorola but that the modem is properly plugged. They didn't mention whether the DSL wire was plugged to the modem.
It's now afternoon and I am still without internet access. My Motorola is with me and so are my documents and all the important stuff (especially the videos I have been waiting to finish to work on and the research I have been doing in the past week).
So this morning I just started calling people and hoping that their phone lines were good because I have no internet Well at 2 p.m. The internet is back up but it's still only at 3kbps while I had expected my speed to be about 22mbps. My phone and cable internet bills were just about the same yesterday but this morning the bill is a huge number which could only mean that I paid for my call and cable internet when I didn't use them.
At least I know now that my modem isn't the problem but what is the problem now? Do I even need to pay? Maybe the wireless connection doesn't have its strength, maybe the line is dead. I already have more than 14 calls (the bill was about Php2,000) but nobody answers my phone calls. I've also seen the person on the other end of the line trying to reach them but they're all busy. Do I call the same man I called yesterday and just leave a message? Should I just go to Smart and ask for their number (I'm almost getting irritated that nobody at Smart calls me back to say if it's not working. That's why the day has been so expensive), or should I just go to the police station and ask them to help me get connected to the internet?
