You can watch lots of TV shows in Japanese too, but you need to do a little bit of extra work in the process. I was kind of surprised to find that Netflix doesn't offer Japanese-language subtitles, as it does for English ones.

So, you can stream shows in English for free, but you need to subscribe to Netflix Japan. It's actually really cheap, and you get a whole lot more than just streaming anime. You get access to their entire collection of TV shows, films, and music videos - there's something for everyone! I'll explain how to sign up for it below.

But first, a quick update. Update: after signing up I realised that Netflix Japan doesn't allow you to view shows while they're airing, it's only got the day after the airing. I'm not entirely sure why, because it's a fairly major thing to want to do, so hopefully they'll roll it out to allow viewing while the show is airing.
