What country has all anime on Netflix?

Netflix recently released their "Anime on Netflix" and one of the questions that people have asked is which country has the most anime on Netflix.

So, I did some research. Here's what I found out:

Anime on Netflix is currently available in Canada, Germany, India, Japan, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, UK, and USIf you're not in one of these countries or territories, then you can visit Anime on Netflix and use a VPN service to be able to access it. So the next step would be to find out which country has the most anime on Netflix. What does Japanese Netflix have?

If you haven't had the opportunity to watch the recently-released Shiga's Nihon no Gantai (In The Realm Of The Senses), then you're in for a rather special treat. It is one of the most highly-anticipated movies of the year in Japan, and I couldn't recommend it more highly. Directed by Takashi Imai, with an outstanding script by Shunji Iwai, the film tells the story of the torrid affair between Shizu Shigeko (Emi Takei) and Masaki Shinoda (Ken Ogata), a married man. For all its sordid charms and richly detailed sensuality, In The Realm of The Senses is a very modern film - in both in subject matter and in technique, it brings out many of the key themes of 20th century Japanese cinema (which I hope to delve into in an essay here soon). But as it happens, it also contains the most beautiful opening title sequence of any recent Japanese film. From the opening credit sequence through to the final title, In the Realm of the Senses is nothing less than breathtaking; in addition to the stunning title sequence, it also features a wonderful score (also composed by Imai and Iwai, who worked together on the script) and amazing performances from Emi Takei and Ken Ogata. All in all, this is quite a film, and it has won more fans than even it deserves. So if you are going to see this movie, be sure to come and join the after-the-show party!

To celebrate the release of In the Realm of the Senses, I thought it would be fun to take a look at the Japanese Netflix catalogue, paying particular attention to things that show Japanese films made in the last two years. If you have Netflix in the USA, or just want to know what Japanese Netflix has, it will be something of a mirror of the kind of thing that's available in your region. If you are a Netflix user in Japan, however, it should provide you with a slightly different picture; with the help of the company's customer survey results, Netflix in Japan has decided to offer Japanese films without dubbing, using subtitle translations supplied by the company itself.

Does Japan Netflix have more anime?

After the recent release of Netflix's One Piece: World Seeker, it's now looking more likely that Netflix will be getting a few more anime (and to be fair, other stuff as well) in the near future. The company has already brought some Japanese anime titles into its library, and is currently working on more. We've got an official statement from Netflix on the subject for you.

Netflix's Chief Content Officer, Ted Sarandos, had this to say: We are proud to provide Netflix members around the world with a diverse selection of content, including anime from Japan. Over the past year, we have worked closely with the industry to bring many popular titles to the service, and we look forward to adding more Japanese titles to the catalog in the months and years to come.

This, to me, sounds like Netflix's answer to Anime News Network's recent poll which found that over 50% of all US Netflix users prefer to watch anime instead of American TV shows and movies. In other words, anime fans will likely start streaming anime on Netflix soon.

What do you think? Is Netflix bringing more anime to the world? (via Geekosystem).
