Hey guys, so I've been using Shadowsocks for some time now. Its a very nice application, and I've been enjoying it. However, as my server has been having problems I needed to install a new router, and now I'm connected to the Internet via the new router, which is working fine. But I haven't been able to get the Shadowsocks server working with this new router.

I've been trying to use Shadowsocks, but it says "Connection Failed" or something like that. I've been wondering if it's because the Shadowsocks server can only be accessed through the router I have now, and the router isn't compatible with Shadowsocks. So, is it possible to use the Shadowsocks server without the router? Is there any way to make Shadowsocks compatible with the router I'm currently using?

I'm really confused about this issue, and I'd appreciate it if you guys could help me out here. Re: Shadowsocks better than SOCKS5? Originally Posted by luigimanno. Sorry for asking this kind of question again, but.

What is the best proxy for SOCKS5?

I'm setting up a remote connection for my server and want the people behind the firewall to be able to connect.

If my server is on an external network, will all users that connect to it need a proxy to connect? This is assuming there's no built-in proxy that's available. For example, if I have a windows 7 machine sitting behind a linux box with squid, will a windows 7 user behind this setup need to be using squid? 3 Answers.
Socks5 is SOCKSv4, so if you configure your server to forward port 80 to 192.168.128:80, anyone with a browser configured to use a proxy will be forwarded to your server in the same manner, via the NAT/routing of the proxy, as if they had manually set a proxy in their browser to whatever value you have given it (probably proxy.facebook.com). The server itself, which has knowledge of the internal IPs and their port 80, only sees your external IP when the request arrives. If your server responds to requests like /index.html (eg ) or like //. (), they will appear to come from your external IP when they come in from the firewall; however, if your web server responds to such requests with content like or a bunch of HTML/CSS/JS headers, they are not forwarded to you. In either case, you don't even need to have a real web server, and can even run a simple nginx process (or just use the existing in-tree webserver) to serve up an index.html and a robots.txt file or something on port 80 - again, that's all the firewall will see.

So, in short, the answer is yes, all that matters is the way the external IP is behaving; any way they are accessing the net will work just fine. Thanks, I did not think about the user-agent headers. So all I need is a simple index file to make the connection.

How to buy a SOCKS5 proxy?

If you want to buy a SOCKS5 proxy then first you need to get an ID or you can use an ID you already have.

An ID will allow you to log in to Socks proxies from the proxy host's site. Once you have an ID you need to buy your SOCKS5 proxy from a provider that supports SOCKS5 proxies. Socks proxies are used for HTTP/HTTPS traffic and this means it can be used on many different sites to change their web browser proxy settings. A SOCKS5 proxy can change HTTP and HTTPS traffic between web browsers and the internet and this is what makes it so popular.

Is SOCKS5 a residential proxy?

The SOCKS5 protocol has been around for some time and was once considered a residential proxy for IPv6.

I still believe it is, but it's also a very useful protocol, and more people should be using it.

For the non-technical, a proxy is a program that sits in the middle of a network connection and looks at the traffic to and from the real user on the far end. A proxy can do a lot of things, including encrypting (or not), caching, anonymizing, bandwidth limiting, and others.

There are many types of proxies: corporate, residential broadband, residential mobile, VPN, etc. For IPv6, one popular type is a residential IPv6 proxy. This is exactly what it sounds like: an IPv6 residential proxy is a program that sits in the middle of the network between your ISP and the rest of the internet. It acts like an IPv6 router, providing you with an IPv6 address.

Unfortunately, the original concept of the residential IPv6 proxy was somewhat flawed. To understand this, we first need to understand what the end user interface for an IPv6 connection looks like.

As an example, let's pretend that we have an IPv6 connection.
