What does a proxy server do on PS4?
That is a very common question as most of the PS4 owners use a proxy. To address this we have decided to give some tips and guidelines on the best way to use your PS4 with a proxy. In this blog post, we will be covering 3 categories - 1) How to use your PS4 with a proxy, 2) What proxies are available for PS4 and 3) How to choose a proxy.
What is a Proxy and why do I need one? Many games that require internet access (such as online multiplayer games, downloads etc.) require an internet connection. Sometimes this connection is through cable, but more often than not the connection is through your wireless router. The main purpose of the internet connection is to communicate between you and other people around the world. You can be in one location, and send messages to someone in another location. You can also download files, or play games with other people across the world. So when you connect to your internet connection, you are connecting to the provider of your internet connection. The provider of your internet connection is called a ISP. So the ISP can provide internet service to your wireless router, and your router can then share it with your console.
Your PS4 uses your wireless router's internet connection when you are connected to your home network (LAN), but there is an alternative to using your router's internet connection, which is to use a proxy server. A proxy server is a computer that acts as a middleman between you and the internet service provider. For example, let's say you are on a public Wi-Fi network at your local caf. You are connected to your wireless router and you can go online. But your IP address (the number that identifies your location) is currently being shared. When you visit a site and connect to their website, they will assign a random IP address. Your internet connection will now be connected through a third party (a public server).
When you connect to a public server, your personal information is no longer safe. Other people can see what you are doing on the internet. This happens because if you connect to a public server, the person who runs it can read your internet traffic. They can see your online purchases, personal photos, private chat and so much more.
Should I use proxy server on ps4?
My country blocks a lot of websites.
This question is going to be subjective and will likely result in opinionated answers. If you are comfortable relying on community consensus, use the serverfault community server and the ps4 forums.
What does the 'No Web Proxy Settings' box mean? In short, it means that your web browsing on the console will not be subject to any local restrictions, and instead of using the country you are connecting from, it will be subject to the policies for the US. While this isn't really ideal for most people, there are work-arounds and it still won't impact online games or anything like that (unless you turn off online play on those games).
You can also check the console's internet settings to make sure that they're not set to "Automatic" which is likely what would be chosen for most people and will likely result in most local restrictions being respected. If you have a supported modem, there's generally not much to be gained by using a proxy on the console as it's unlikely to increase bandwidth at all. Some countries block most websites completely. They should either get a new government or start learning English. Most websites these days aren't made just for their own language, and if a site only has localized content, then there should be a way to switch the language on the site using the browser.
There is little chance of them completely blocking all access to the internet. There are a lot of smaller, localized sites out there (even a site like Reddit, which is often blocked), but you'll just need to do some hunting to find a proxy for the country you want to access. Once you find one, just open the app store and install a browser there, and you should be good.
Do you need to use a proxy server on PS4?
In this article we will see what are proxies, why you need them and how to configure your PS4. Proxies are often used to access content that is not available in certain countries. For example, the PS4 does not support Netflix in some countries.
Using a proxy server on the PS4 is not mandatory, but it may be useful in many situations. It will let you access websites, download files or update software from a server that is located outside the country where you live.
Proxy servers are normally free and easy to install. On Windows, Mac OS and Linux, you can easily find them at the official websites of the popular browsers.

Can I play ps4 online with mobile hotspot?
When your device is connected to the internet through a mobile hotspot, the gaming router, and the PS4, then you can access the web browser through the PS4 system and have the console access the internet through the mobile network. You will have to be connected to a WiFi network on your mobile phone and the mobile hotspot will give you internet access via 3G or 4G.
To set up your mobile hotspot, connect it to the internet (mobile network) and to your router, and then connect your mobile phone to the hotspot through the mobile network. Once you have set this up, you can play the PS4 through the mobile hotspot on your smartphone.
Why is my ps4 asking for a proxy server for hotspot?
I was trying to create a hotspot to share my wireless internet connection over wifi, so I go to the setting and I put the password like this - everything seems ok for now. But then it asks me if I want to open a hotspot or not, so I open and it gives me this error "You can't open a Hotspot, because your proxy servers is blocked" what should I do? and how to avoid this thing everytime I start up my ps4? (if that helps, I'm connecting to the internet over wifi). In the System Settings screen there should be an option to either: Enable or disable connection sharing via Ethernet Network Settings. Open Wi-Fi Settings or WLAN Settings and check the Wi-Fi Connection Sharing option. The default is disabled.
However with your version of Ubuntu this isn't there, but I've used this app , I'm a little new at this though so I didn't have any problems and it seemed to work in an OK way.
