Should I use auto connect with NordVPN?
I use NordVPN. I used to use a free VPN that I found online, and it worked pretty well. The thing is, my university blocks most of the regular VPNs that are available. There is this website called TunnelBear. And it's free for new users. I know they have a paywall but after my trial was over, I kept forgetting about it. My first experience was good. I forgot about it and got my school work done. Then when I came back home I tried to access the internet, and I couldn't. I had a message saying I needed to upgrade. It made no sense because I was still downloading videos from the web before I started the VPN. I tried to download some free VPNs but I couldn't connect. I tried to ask my university, but I didn't get a response. So I thought I should look for another VPN. After that I found NordVPN and this worked. There are a lot of things that I really liked about the NordVPN. For one, their customer service was great. The guys were so fast and helpful. I asked questions about connecting or anything and I get a response within an hour. But they weren't so nice. They asked me if I was the only user who was having trouble connecting.00 to give me full access to the internet. I told them no, and they told me I was wrong. I told them the rules clearly state that it's not allowed. Then they told me they would block my account and not allow me to reconnect in the future. That's crazy. It was their first mistake. There were a lot more. I asked them what the difference between VPN and PPTP, and they told me that PPTP isn't a VPN. I don't understand what that means. Does it mean it doesn't connect to other servers? I also asked them why it wasn't possible to connect to the VPN when there was a connection. It shouldn't matter if I am on a laptop or my phone, it should connect as long as the internet is working. Why is it so complicated? But they didn't reply. I have no idea how many problems I will have while using their services.
How do I get my NordVPN to work on my FireStick?
First of all, you need to make sure that you've already downloaded and installed the NordVPN client on your FireStick. You can access the app by going into settings>Network & DNS. Then navigate to the VPN section and make sure that the checkbox for 'OpenVPN' is selected. Now go back to the main settings section and select 'Fire TV Channels' and follow the prompts. You should then be asked if you want to use the VPN. Just select 'OK' to connect.
On your FireStick, you can download additional apps via the FireStick App store. So in this case you would go to: Apps > Store > Browse All Apps Once you've located the 'NordVPN' app, simply press the button to download the app. Now that you've installed it, you're good to go. You can also get the 'Netflix' app to allow you to stream from Netflix and use the Netflix library which is available on FireStick.

How do I automatically connect to VPN at startup?
I have a vpn profile setup at work, and this works pretty well for automatic logins into my work network. What I'd like to do is to have this profile always up and configured when I login, so it's connected to my company VPN even when I'm not in the office. Is this possible with OpenVPN on Mac?
Thanks! You can configure openVPN to do that through an XML config file (instead of through command-line tools). In you configuration file (which should be a .ovpn file), put:
Does NordVPN stay connected on FireStick?
NordVPN does not stay connected on FireStick, but if you want to use it on FireStick you should change your country because the only other option is to use our older VPNs (Pro or Unlimited). Please email support@nordvpn.com with any questions.
Do I need to change my DNS settings if I have NordVPN on FireStick? The original NordVPN FireStick works perfectly with our original VPNs, but if you are using our paid FireStick (NordVPN Pro or Unlimited), you will need to change your DNS settings in order to access your paid FireStick VPN at home. This is because FireStick VPN by default uses Google's DNS servers, which are slow, so if you are using a paid FireStick, you may experience a loss of connection. To change your DNS settings, please visit our Support section on how to do this here.
If I have an older VPN that uses OpenVPN and my router is newer, will NordVPN work? Yes, but unfortunately we cannot offer support on older VPNs using OpenVPN and newer routers, however if you are using an older router, it may work with our old VPNs. If you are unsure, please email us at support@nordvpn.com and we can help you get the best setup.

It is not possible to share accounts with multiple devices. You must start the VPN on each device separately.
Do I need to use the free version of NordVPN FireStick for streaming? We do not recommend using the free version of our FireStick VPN. The only reason you would need the free version is if you have FireStick devices with the older firmware version and you do not have any of the paid FireStick VPNs installed.
Is it legal to install NordVPN on a Fire Stick?
As I just came to know about a new VPN service called NordVPN, and I couldn't help but wonder if it was legal to install this on the Fire TV Stick? Well, it appears that installing and using this VPN may not be as simple as the manufacturer suggests. For example, with a lot of VPN services, you are required to download the client software and then run it every time you want to use the VPN. And most VPNs don't allow you to just turn it once and for all.
But with NordVPN, as stated in their website, the installation of the software is only a one-time process. So if you have access to your Fire Stick, then you can install and start using NordVPN immediately.
And here is another reason why you might want to consider installing this VPN - in addition to being able to secure your connection to the Internet, they also provide a firewall for your device which will block access to unauthorized apps from the Internet. Does NordVPN work with FireStick?
NordVPN says they will support FireStick devices. However, you can only use it via a mobile device to activate a FireStick (no direct connection needed). Do you think that's a valid 'no'?
I think if they supported the connection via the FireStick device itself that would be legit because I do not want an Apple iPhone or Android device connected to my FireStick TV box and I have seen many people with both FireStick and other kinds of media streams (including PCs). It looks like you can't pair a device directly. In some way maybe, it depends on software and I think it does. I don't know how well it can support that feature though. But I know with an old Roku we used to have our phone paired when using a TV remote, and that was able to work without wifi.e. I had to enable this setting on my Firestick though. And no, the FireTV is not able to connect with the Firestick over wifi alone. It has to connect to wifi before. So I think that the answer to your question is no. I would look into another VPN service if you really want to pair your Firestick with NordVPN as they are listed above
I was just having a conversation with a Vero customer support and they informed me that you can not stream movies over direct IP connection(via wifi or direct connection) with Firestick. I have my Roku and its a simple matter to put in an ip address and go but I'd have to buy a Firestick before I used this feature if it works at all. You would need to have a mobile device with the VPN app attached. Once you establish the connection you must then enter the public IP address of your Firestick so NordVpn's mobile client can connect to the VPN's server and then start streaming to your device(Roku or iPhone/android). You'll need to disable any other streaming services to ensure your IP address is not blocked when trying to connect. If you're using WiFi only there is no need to VPN as the direct connection will be encrypted in my understanding.
Hello @CarmenBun. You may better off trying this method that involves a third party service than NordVPN. There have been many complaints about them being slow and difficult to install properly.
