Why is Malwarebytes blocking PIA?
I have asked the Malwarebytes support to explain to me on what basis they are blocking my request, but they haven't been back with any response. If you want to remove or disable the malicious process and save yourself the hassle I suggest trying to remove it using Regedit.exe (see below), as this is easier and less likely to cause trouble than deleting the file using Malwarebytes.
Is the PIA process blocked with Windows 10? You may come across an issue where you see a program like the popular PIA virus. This program is not dangerous, but the system may appear that way as some anti-malware programs may see this as a malicious process.

Does Private Internet Access still work?
It's been a month since I wrote about Private Internet Access, and that's a pretty good time to reflect on the past. It was a month where my life changed in many ways, one of them being the end of my old company and the beginning of PIIt also ended with the release of version 5.0.2 which, I'll be honest, is just not that interesting.
I've previously written about the history of PIA, which you can read about here. In short, back in 2023 I found a problem with the way my ISP had implemented a policy that meant my traffic would be redirected to an ad company. I didn't have control over it, and I wasn't happy about it. So I set about creating a VPN that worked in that environment, and the rest is history.
So why is the story relevant to you? Well, just like my old company was a great job for the first year or so, Private Internet Access is still an excellent choice for anyone who wants a secure, fast, and anonymous connection. It's just not for everyone. It's for people who don't care about being tracked, don't mind waiting a bit longer than usual for web pages to load, don't mind signing up for multiple VPNs, and probably don't have a lot of other options available. For them, PIA is great.
What's changed? So, I left my old company about four months ago. This was a bit weird because as of about two weeks before I left I was basically working for myself. I still had a team, but I'd started doing things a bit differently and they all knew it. The company had its ups and downs, and it's pretty much the same way now. We work a lot more, we do less, we go out and eat dinner together and chat about whatever we want. But you know, it's a start.
All of this has led to the fact that I'm currently in the market for a new ISP. I'm going to be moving to a new apartment in about three weeks, and I've been really taking my time thinking about who I'm going to switch to.
Is PIA trustworthy?
Is it reliable? Is it good at what it does? This is a big question, because most of the people that you are going to talk to about PIA are going to have a vested interest.
But that does not mean that we cannot find out, and we need to be able to tell people the good from the bad. This brings us to our first question: ? It all started when we first met our client, who had asked if we could help her move some sensitive data, or if we can't help, do we know any other people that might? Well, we do know a few other people in the industry that are reputable and they have done this kind of work before. Unfortunately, we told them that it was too risky, because the whole industry is still struggling with GDPR.
The next question we get asked most often is: Is PIA reliable? If you read through the blog, you will notice that most of them are related to the topic. For example, there was one, where we wrote that someone took a dump on our parking space, and then left, so we have changed our parking space. Another story is about when someone was going to do a job for us, and when he arrived, we found him trying to steal something from our office.
A common theme throughout these stories is that there has been problems with the people that we talk to. This leads us to the last question, which is about PIA's own internal policies, so we know what our own internal policies are. Well, we tried that as well. That is how we learned that the person that went to our own offices to take a dump, was not even in our own company. That is scary!

What are the problems with PIA?
Are there enough safeguards and oversight mechanisms for this new program? I want to be very sure that as a woman in my country (which has very strict views on abortion) I can't get pregnant. Piaf is French for pie, and it refers to what you don't want to eat - namely an illegitimate child. It is a French expression, derived from the Latin periculum in agendo. (A literal translation of that sentence would be: The peril is inherent in the doing. Which also makes sense.)
The expression came into use in the 17th century, and was introduced to English by way of the French translation. Originally, the expression referred to having no appetite for things, which, in many languages, means being pregnant.
I think that you need to research the history of PIA and the abortion laws in France more thoroughly before claiming to know the answer, and frankly, it's difficult to blame PIA for a law passed to keep women safe. As to the problem with PIA, I'm not sure why you feel that PIA is unsafe, since it isn't being used as a drug and hasn't yet been given to humans. If you are worried that PIA could accidentally be passed to a man, your fears would apply regardless of whether PIA was a pharmaceutical or not.
In case you missed the thread, the original post said that the company who made PIA sold the rights to it and thus it was going to be available as an over-the-counter drug. The poster said that he was having second thoughts about getting PIWell, I've got a few thoughts about PIA that might be of interest.
First of all, here's a fact: Women who use the birth control pill do have less abortions than women who use other forms of contraception. PIA might cause abortions, but other forms of birth control definitely cause abortions. That is, the fact that PIA might cause abortions doesn't mean that the company that manufactures PIA will sell a medicine that causes abortions.
Here's another fact: There's nothing inherently unsafe about birth control pills or other hormonal contraceptives.
