How do I know if NordVPN is working on FireStick?
I'm trying to stream Netflix on FireStick (2nd generation). I had previously used and loved NordVPN for my computers but I can't seem to get it working with FireStick.
The issue is, it is telling me it's connected and when I check in the Netflix app it says "not available". As you've mentioned, you are not the only one with this problem. It seems to be a bug in the Netflix app, they haven't confirmed the issue but there are a lot of users having problems connecting.
So I'd recommend to use a VPN app that doesn't rely on external resources (like NordVPN) and check if the connection to Netflix is actually made.
Why is FireStick NordVPN not working?
A FireStick NordVPN is a device of the same name. This device is made by Roku (of which Amazon is a company subsidiary), and it was released in 2023 with the latest software and hardware updates rolled out as of July 2023. The device works with NordVPN servers to make a stable VPN tunnel. I haven't had a problem using this device since October 2023, when I first posted my problem. I've never even had a notification that there are updates available for this device.
I just discovered this forum and started posting about this issue. I guess maybe someone on here knows what's going on because I think they're doing some behind the scenes stuff to fix my problem. Maybe.
Here is the history of my issues: July 2023 update (4.1): This is not my current firmware version, but it is still current based on vpn.roku. I have no issue after updating to this version.
October 2023 update: This is my current firmware. It doesn't work and can't even log in.
September 2017: The log in and setup screens don't come up and there is no icon to click to install. It stays stuck on the setup screen after you enter your login details. I can see the splash screen for awhile but then it just goes black. No logs are produced either. On the second try to launch Firestick at all (forget the logs), it says "FireStick has shut down unexpectedly."
August 2023 update: This is the same as October 2023, with the addition of a log at appupdate. Here is the log I found on that page: This is the first firmware update after the October update. I downloaded and installed it, but it still doesn't work.
April 2017: This is the version of the Firestick that came pre-installed. It is also the first Firestick that I ever had. It worked OK, but it wasn't working very well at all with the VPN. It was like there was an invisible wall keeping me out. There were only a handful of servers at first so it wasn't too bad.
How do I get my NordVPN to work on my FireStick?
If you're looking for a VPN solution for your FireStick, there are some extra steps you need to take to get your NordVPN to work. First of all, make sure that your FireStick is connected to the same network as your router. You can find out if your FireStick is connected to the same network by going to the home screen on your FireStick and checking your Wi-Fi connection settings. If it's not connected to the same network as your router, then you won't be able to connect to your router's VPN.
If you're on a VPN, you'll also need to allow your FireStick to access the Internet. You'll need to go to the Wi-Fi settings of your FireStick and select Access Point Mode. By doing this, you'll allow your FireStick to access the Internet through your router.
After you have made sure that your FireStick is connected to the same network as your router, it's time to install your NordVPN app. Once you've downloaded and installed your NordVPN app onto your FireStick, you can start using your FireStick.
NordVPN is a powerful VPN that will help you protect your online privacy and avoid getting caught up in unwanted online traffic. With a few simple steps, you can use your FireStick to access your favorite content and stay protected online.
Why is NordVPN not working on FireStick Netflix?
This can vary from region to region. Many of the most up-to-date devices that Netflix support are NOT officially supported by NordVPN, including the Nexus Player, FireTV, Roku, Apple TV and many other manufacturers. We recommend that you check in your NordVPN app to make sure that the specific device you're using is officially supported and running the most recent version of the app. If it's not listed as officially supported, this means that you will NOT be able to stream through your device's VPN service! Most likely, you will get a "Connection Error" while streaming, which means that Netflix has detected that your connection isn't being protected with a VPN. This can happen if you're in a foreign country, on a different region or region-free device, or you may have accidentally left NordVPN open or logged into your account, for example. How do I know if NordVPN is working correctly? The best way to make sure that NordVPN is actually working correctly is to watch a video on Netflix from within our app. Try accessing Netflix from both the NordVPN app and your device and see if you notice any difference. The only time you will see a real difference between both apps is when there's a network interference on your device, such as when you're in an airport, on public Wi-Fi, or another area where there is interference with your connection. Is there something wrong with the NordVPN interface? In general, the NordVPN interface is very easy to use, yet provides the options that you'd expect from a VPN service. We've designed our interface to help you find what you're looking for in just a few simple clicks. However, there may be times when you need some advanced options, in which case, you can always dive deeper into the settings section of the app. Do you provide a refund? NordVPN provides a 100% Money-Back Guarantee, in which we'll refund your purchase price (less any discounts or coupon codes you used to buy it) if we fail to deliver what you want in our service. This includes our service, customer support, refunds, privacy policy and terms and conditions, etc.
