How do I permanently block certain apps?
(Android)
I use this app. It blocks ads, autoplays music, and other such apps from bothering me. They even allow me to unblock or make them always-on. The thing is, I don't want it to block the apps that I need/want. Is there an app/hack to make my phone truly never-ever turn them on or off? It's really annoying when you have to go from home screen to turn the app on, every time.
Edit: Just noticed the edit. Yes, it can be annoying to have to manually turn those apps back on from settings every time I start up. It's even more annoying when I have to open every app before I can do anything. My phone gets slower and slower as I am forced to sit through those times when my Android has to load apps one by one. If there is a better app/hack for that. Please tell.
I suggest you try another antivirus if you haven't already! While I understand you don't want to, you still have to consider what may be causing your issues. Plus, even some of those antivirus can cause slowdown/stuttering by having to constantly update their databases.
In addition, you may also consider getting rid of some of the background "extras" added by manufacturers, such as widgets, custom home screens, etc. Those things come at the cost of speed/performance.
Another possible problem you could be encountering is a malfunctioning keyboard or a problematic hardware component. Thank you for your response, but it seems that you've been misled. No, this isn't the only issue that is causing my problems with Android performance. I use both my phone and my laptop regularly. And I have had trouble since I got Android over iOS. I had been using iOS for a couple years before the first Android I got. I bought the OnePlus 7 Pro with 6GB of RAM and 64 GB storage. It's slow in all aspects. Even simple things such as switching between tabs in the web browser takes forever. I got an Xtronix V1 Tablet with Windows 10, 8GB RAM, and 128 GB storage about 6 months ago. I used my tablet exclusively. It did everything the phone did, except for making calls. I used that for about 6 months as well, as a last ditch effort to get performance out of my phone.
Can I block certain apps on iPhone?
Is there a way to restrict access to certain apps on iPhone? My daughter bought a cheap iPhone and now she is downloading games and apps without my knowledge. I would like to limit her access to certain apps, mainly games. How can I go about this?
Your daughter will need a jailbroken iPhone to install these apps. In iOS 4, Apple has added an enterprise policy, but your daughter will need to be an employee of your company to use it.
Alternatively, the App Store allows you to restrict the content of apps for your child. See here for more information. You can also restrict content for Apps you have already downloaded.
Go to Settings > General > Restrictions. Under Restricted Profiles, select Child User, and click Add New Child. Select Restrictions and tap Edit Child. Enter a name, then select Enable Restrictions. Tap Done. This will require your child to enter a passcode to do anything with the iPhone. You may want to require her to use the passcode every time she wants to use the phone. The screen may have changed somewhat in iOS 6, but it should be basically the same.
How do I disable a specific app on my iPhone?
I have an iPhone 5 running iOS 7.1.3. I need to disable an app because it has become very slow and the battery drains very fast. But when I try to disable it, it tells me I can't. How can I remove it from my phone?
If the App is stuck in the review process, you can always use the alternative method to remove it. While holding the home button, swipe up on the App in the App switcher. The App should be removed.
You cannot completely uninstall apps from your phone, and can only temporarily disable them. You can do it from the App Switcher screen by swiping on the app icon. Alternatively, you can temporarily remove it from the Home Screen and then re-add it.
As stated in the comments, there is no way to "completely" uninstall apps from your phone. However, you can "temporarily" disable an app on your phone by going to the Home screen, tapping on the app icon and then tapping on the small downward facing triangle at the bottom left of the app's icon (when you're in the app's screen) to reveal the small red 'x'. Once you have done this, the app will show in your "disabled" apps list. If you want to re-enable the app, follow the steps below: Tap on the app's icon on the Home screen. Tap on the small downward facing triangle at the bottom left of the app's icon. A 'x' will appear. Tap the 'x' to enable the app.
