What is today's biggest global news?
Well, who cares?
How would you know, anyway, when you need to read the newspapers from all over the world and sift through news for information. The biggest issue globally, is still, however, one of our daily problems.
What issues should matter to a news reader today? Should the big economic events (interest rates are back on), and then a big banking scandal which was a serious blow to the global market and many institutions in the UK. Then there were some very good football games too! What makes a news story great? There are so many variables involved, such as the importance of the event, its impact, and the news coverage by many people, the way it's interpreted, and sometimes just the humour. How can I find out what is going on globally? My local newspaper has sections such as 'UK & International', which is quite broad. When I'm at home I rely on reading the front page online of the newspaper websites, or perhaps using my iPad on the train! The internet is a wonderful tool for finding news from all over the world. The best advice I can give is that you start by searching Google News and reading stories posted online, and that you do that every day, and you'll be surprised at what you pick up.
What should I look for on Google News? Well, you need to start off by adding either -'international' or 'global' to your search. You need to add the news title plus -"news" so -'International News'. You also need to search with your local region. Most news companies have their UK-based site first and also have a US one, so you will find a US-based 'News' link on the side of Google News results. Sometimes a few months later they will add a UK-based news section.
Another tip when you're reading an online newspaper: click on the words of interest within that article. It highlights the words and paragraphs which are of interest. If you click on the words or sentences which you'd rather not read about, you'll learn to just skim past it!
What else should I look for? In other words, why should I read the paper? Well, the reason for reading online newspaper reports are because it's free and easy. But don't you want more depth to your news than that.
Why should I follow BBC News?
What is the latest national news today?
Read today's news and find out.
Today's News is here and the updates are here. If you are on an old browser like IE8 or Safari, scroll down to see the latest news.
New Feature: News Alerts. Have you noticed that there are new features in the search results pages? The latest one is News Alerts. What do you have to do to enable it? If you are using Firefox, right click on a news result and select "Show news alert" from the context menu. I used the same method to enable this feature. If you are using Internet Explorer 9 or Safari 7, the news alerts are not enabled by default. I have to right click on any news result to see them. Both of them let you select news items that are related to your search term. They allow you to add them to a "news alert". You can also delete any news items from the alert without removing them from your search.
You can check if you have installed these plugins. Look for any Chrome extension in the list of installed extensions. The news alert should appear as a blue block at the bottom of the list. You can easily uninstall any extensions that you don't need.
It is good to have several plugins to ensure you don't miss out on any of your regular searches. This way, you can get an alert when you are conducting a new search. If you don't want to remove the other news alerts, you can keep them enabled but ignore them when they pop up. Just close the popup. Don't close the search results page yet because you may need to navigate back to it to check the news alert.
When you see this symbol in the search results page, the website has new articles. The article lists the top 10 national news stories that day. If you are interested in more than just one, you can use the links on the right side of the search results page to open the news alerts about the search terms you want.

- I think the most popular election. And in this case is a little. Let's just say a different president. Than the last time, but still. An American president. Still a president for a country. So is there some of that. And also the Trump vs Clinton? - Oh yes. You know, Hillary Clinton is. Playing the kind of woman that. A lot of people would like to have. As a second president as opposed. To president number one. So, that's why I think people. Especially young people. Are playing a role. That don't necessarily. Really want them to. Be playing for her. People are tired of her. They don't want her for president. (bell chiming). And so, people I think are trying. To take what they can from her. But at the same time it's more. So an entertainment like, like. A reality show where people are. Playing out their personalities. Let's talk about the current. Events happening right now. (bell chiming). So, this is the day after tomorrow. Election and right now we're sitting. In a very interesting position. Where Hillary has won all the. Electoral college states except. One (mumbles). She's got all the states of the. US with the exception. Of Texas and Ohio. What does this mean going forward? - So, this is very significant. Remember two things: The electoral college is going. To assign a winner for a country. And the president. In the country, it's Donald Trump. Right now it's an ongoing. Fight between the two parties. Because the president. Doesn't officially happen. Until it's actually. Official on the date. That's set by law. But so, right now everybody. Knows who is officially. The president-elect. Donald Trump, but it's. A huge fight over the. Next five years. And who gets the power.
What big things are happening in the world today?
Well, the United States is having a major earthquake that could be caused by fracking.
The U. Congress is working on passing a "fast track" bill that will destroy the U. Economy and lead to a "major depression." People are being killed by earthquakes and tornadoes. There is a big war in the Middle East and the U.is at war with Iran. Barack Obama is planning to expand gun control. And the Republican Party just declared war on women, the poor and minorities.
I'll bet this guy is just the type who could make you feel good about life, no matter how lousy it's getting. No matter what you're doing, he'll make you feel better about it. He'll make you believe that there is someone out there who is happy for you, thinking about you, and willing to help. But he doesn't understand your situation.
Your "friend" is actually a con man who is only out to get your money. You need to tell him to stop calling you and hanging up, or else he might try to hurt you or even harm you. The more you let him into your life, the worse things will get for you. But how can I be sure that this guy won't do something to me? Don't worry about this guy. He's probably just a nice guy with a big heart. He could very well be a "friend" who cares about you. Or he could be the type of person who likes to watch you suffer. If you give him the chance, he'll take full advantage of you.
I need advice about my boyfriend. He's a recovering addict and I know that it will take a long time for him to fully recover from that. He has been sober for over three years now and he says he wants to go to a men's recovery meeting in another city, but I know that he needs to stay in the city where I live.
I don't want to let him go to the meetings, but I don't know what to do. Do you have any suggestions? If you have any suggestions, please post them. It's a good idea to keep your boyfriend away from drugs and alcohol. But if he's staying with you, he should also be following the rules for staying sober.
