Will Netflix ban me for using a VPN?

So I've been in and out of the dark for the past few days, thanks to a bad case of VPN sickness.

I got a brand new one and after trying several I finally found one that seems to be working fine.

However, here's the thing, I was having some trouble getting access to netflix. It took an enormous amount of digging and reading of how to's to finally get it working. I was doing this on an Android box so things were easier to track down and figure out. I was able to solve the issue with one of my ISP's by getting them to add a rule to their router that would let them know that someone using a VPN was using their service. This solved the problem with Netflix but my main issue is that most of my other apps are not working. Netflix, Hulu, CBS, and my main app (Hangouts) that lets me connect with people and chat, not just to people in my phonebook but also to friends via Facebook and Twitter.

If I were to leave my ISP and move to a VPN provider, will my problem still persist? I know that I could get someone at my VPN provider to add a rule in their router, and set up their router like my ISP's, and all my other apps would start working again. But will Netflix stop working? Can they somehow ban me for using a VPN? If I were to say that I had hacked a movie, would that be a reason for Netflix to ban me? I guess what I'm asking is, is Netflix in charge of deciding who is and is not banned by ISPs and VPN providers? Also, if there is someone that can point me in the right direction, would using a mobile VPN be a bad idea? The problem with mobile VPNs is that you cannot control where you are logging in from. So I'd be forced to login from a location I do not wish to login from.

Re: Netflix ban me for using a VPN? Your problem stems from your location. If you live in the US, then netflix does not accept you. If you live in Europe, then netflix accepts you. If you live anywhere else, then netflix accepts you. As far as I know Netflix is an international site. So they accept you for wherever you are.

It was a very popular question and I wanted to make sure it would work. Thank you! Netflix still detects VPNs, and they don't support it for whatever reason. If you do use a VPN then the VPN needs to support "Smart Routing" mode for VPN routes to work (I think that's what it's called), but I'm not aware of any VPN providers that do. In order to access VPNs, you have to go through some hoops that's pretty annoying to get around.
