Try using the following to test if it is working properly: Code: ssh root@server.net -v This will show a ton of debugging information (if there were any) about how your SSH server was trying to connect. After this log, your SSH session should close. If it still doesn't work then something else may be preventing your FortiClient service from shutting down completely. At least now we know it is related to the port you are using for SSH rather than just being something weird going on with your FortiClient service.

Thanks! There were several debug messages regarding the client but I don't remember reading them since it went past 3am. I didn't notice those debug messages since I wasn't doing any sort of logging which would have revealed it.

After adding that log you have a lot more information to work with. Here's a summary of what I see. This also looks a little different as the log entry is from the FortiClient agent, rather than the actual CLI.

As it currently stands, it looks like it is running fine. I was trying to stop it and it was having trouble so I tried a restart which was also bad so I tried the manual method in the linked article.

Here is the command I entered followed by the log output from the ssh server. C:Program FilesAVAYA SoftwareFortinet Client>fg. The FortiClient service is starting. The FortiClient service was not found.
