Why is my Wi-Fi working for everything but Netflix?
I just got a new modem and router a few days ago from Verizon, with the intention of moving my Internet connection out of my home (so I could maybe add it in my apartment) and having a much better signal in both places. Problem is, my Wi-Fi doesn't work when I move from the office to my apartment, and not only that, but it won't pick up new neighbors and devices when I do so. When I was at the office, my Wi-Fi worked fine, but now it works for everything except for Netflix and Chrome.
My ISP says the problem isn't there, and I have a neighbor across the street who can access a "safer" router and my own Wi-Fi is obviously working and connecting through their router. Is there anything I can do to make sure that Netflix and other sites are always accessible on my Wi-Fi? If nothing works, is there a website that will tell me why this is happening? I just get used to changing the port number, for those of you who don't use an external device. If you use an external device, or router, you won't be able to just switch the port number. You need to change every single file for port forwarding.
In case you don't know what a port is, then I think you really don't need to worry about it. Port numbers are numbers that websites and devices use to communicate, when one computer wants to get access to the internet, one needs to find that one's own number before getting that access. Changing the port number means you've just changed the file so that your computer can finally access the port.
Your router doesn't support port forwarding, so that means that your ISP does. It's just that they're not telling you that they do.
First thing, go to your router and do all the port forwarding. Make sure that it allows any ports for your ISP. Then just connect to those ports (and make sure you set port forwarding for those specific ports). Let's say that they are 1234 and 2222 (for example). Connect your computer using the computer that's having problems accessing the internet.
Why does my smart TV keep saying no Internet connection?
When I turn on my Sony smart TV, I go to the settings and it says no internet connection found.
I did not have any internet connected on my PC and when I go to the settings, I can not turn on the WiFi.e. I turned the WiFi off and now it says "Wifi is turned off"
3 Answers. We had the same issue. We tried using WiFi Analyzer and a WiFi dongle to find out what was causing the problem. It appears the wireless network were connected to previously has a MAC address that is registered on the Sony TV. This caused an error message telling the TV to turn off WiFi.e. Once we cleared the entries in the MAC database of the TV, WiFi worked.
I tried all that, I even made sure all the networks where unchecked, and still no luck. My computer can be at the other end of the house but if I try to use a dongle on my tv then I get a message saying no internet connection.
I had this same issue on my TV (Sony), which had been running fine for several years, until yesterday. I updated all of the smart TV apps and now, after a reboot, it's no longer working. I get the same error message "no internet connection" and there is no option to turn on/off Wi-Fi in the settings either. The remote control still works and allows me to change the inputs and channels, but it's completely useless. Anyone know what's going on?
No matter how many times I tried to disconnect the wifi, with or without the router, I still get the same message that no internet connection can be found. It only happened in the past week, and I have no idea how to fix it. The wifi connection worked perfectly well yesterday. I'm really disappointed about this. If anyone could help, please reply.
We had a similar issue but it was worse. We had been trying to connect to the internet via the smart tv for the past several months, without success. This morning I noticed that I could not connect my laptop to the internet when I tried to connect the tv to the router. When I put my phone on my cell phone and try to connect to the internet it connects and I get the message "no internet connection". I tried unplugging my smart tv from the router but it would not allow me to plug it back in.
Why does my Netflix say no internet connection on my TV?
I have a HDNet connection through Comcast and it always worked fine until last week.
I can connect through the app on my tablet or phone but I cannot connect on my TV through Netflix. It says "No internet connection" even when I'm connected to the cable through the same router.
When I try to use the "add account" option it says "No internet connection" even though the router is on. It's only been happening since the weekend, and it's only started happening on my TV. Do you have a different router? Have you tried to connect on the other network? What is the model of the TV? Is it the latest generation where they put in their own DNS and DHCP? If so, you might need to get a VPN on your network that would allow the device to be visible on the Internet. There is a difference between Wi-Fi and cable. Cable is just like your modem and router. Your router is hooked up to the cable and has an Ethernet port to plug your computer in. The cable is connected to the router which then has a switch to connect to the modem. The modem connects to your provider. The modem and router is what the WAN (Wide Area Network) is actually hooked to. In this case, the modem is an NTV5702A (it's a brand that Cisco uses for a bunch of their routers).
If you have a modem and router that doesn't work with your provider, you can buy a switch from Amazon or Best Buy. You'll need to figure out how to hook the modem and the router to the switch, and how to configure it for the Wi-Fi password.
The reason the modem/router combo works better is because the modem and router are more compatible with each other.
Why won't Netflix connect on smart TV anymore?
Ever since Roku and TiVo released their "connected devices" in 2026, Netflix has struggled to get support.
Recently, the company decided to stop publishing a list of approved connected devices on its website. With just over three years until the next Netflix TV Streaming box is planned for release, how are people going to find out what they can watch through their cable subscription without those lists?
I have had problems with the service since using it with the Roku 3 when they first launched it and even though I've owned an Apple TV and Fire TV since, I have yet to be able to get it to work on either one. When I did connect, a message appears saying that the content is currently only available on certain Smart TVs, suggesting that I would need to use my cable/fibre box. (Although, I've never owned one myself!)
The last official Netflix streaming connected TV device was released for the TiVo in 2026. Since then, however, they have not only removed all mention of said "platforms", but even the ability to select a device (such as Roku or Apple TV) in search mode.
Instead, you are forced to either use Google Assistant with Android tvOS, or, if you are a Samsung TV user (who doesn't use androidtv) there is an unofficial way to get streaming - by pressing the play/pause button and entering your cable provider login details. It's far from ideal, but it's the best option we have at the moment. The new generation of Netflix TV streaming box should make its appearance before the end of this year and will supposedly include all the standard features of a high end streaming box - so hopefully it's got at least 4K, HDR and Dolby Audio out of the box.
However, you can't expect a quick response from Netflix; they clearly prioritise their own platform over others. Even after contacting their customer support team three times and getting zero response after the third time, it's still hard to access your services on other platforms.
The current situation does not help the millions of viewers who stream via Netflix every month. We need more options than the poor selection we currently have!
