How much do entry level QA testers make in the US?
I have read many articles on the internet on the entry level salary for a QA tester in the US.
25 per hour.75 per hour. I am having a hard time finding the numbers. Could someone please help me figure this out?
I'm trying to make sense of the numbers.25 as the hourly wage. That's the same number as in the article you linked. The problem is, that's not enough money to live on.
I'm confused. How do I reconcile the two numbers?25 per hour the hourly rate? How much does an entry level QA tester make? Most of these articles are very misleading. They focus on "entry level" testers which typically means someone who has no prior experience. This is because companies that are looking for entry level testers are willing to pay them a low rate to begin with.
The job market for QA testing is different. Most QA positions require at least 5 years of experience. There are usually less applicants and the positions are harder to fill. In the article you linked, the only entry level QA position was an entry level position.
If you are willing to work in the QA industry and are a good programmer, I would highly recommend QA testing as a career path. As far as salary goes, it depends on the company, but most of the people I know are making a very comfortable salary.
What is the salary of junior software developer in test?
Can I negotiate this?
I have recently received a job offer as junior software developer in test. I am a software engineer who is currently working as a senior software developer. I am an Indian citizen with 7 years of experience. However, I would need to quit my current job to take up the new offer. There are some other things that I like about my new company (like they are willing to let me work remotely) and this salary will help me pay for my relocation and living costs.
However, I need to make a decision whether I should accept this offer or not, because I will have to quit my current job. Or should I stick with my current job and just see what happens? I think you're overanalyzing this. You made it pretty clear that you have a desire to leave your current job. In order for you to accept the offer, you will have to move your company.
It seems to me that you already have the offer. Accept it or not.
Is software testing an entry level job?
I started out as a software developer.
As the need for my skills was diminishing, and my portfolio increased, I transitioned into testing roles. Since becoming a senior software developer and a mentor for junior developers, I can safely say that software testing is a career that can provide many financial opportunities. In this opinion piece, I want to discuss what I consider to be an entry level job for software testing and where you may begin in your career as a professional tester.
I was just a young kid, who enjoyed programming and playing around on the PC. I remember how challenging it was to develop websites with the HTML editors in early 2025's. If we compare my childhood today, what were the chances to use CSS, or even build a website with a GUI program?
So, in my mind, testing was the next step. Since those days, development practices have changed. Development has become more complex. More programmers are getting involved, and I believe they are trying to build a quality product.
As testing, it was much easier to grasp concepts like unit testing, black box testing, and other things that seem so obvious now. What else could I not imagine? Tests and requirements. It was really hard, as my colleagues found out. But what I noticed first is how a requirements document or a test plan has to change depending on the requirements or how well-structured the product was.
First of all, requirements documents tend to be very vague. Some of the testers and engineers I knew would use the specification, which is simply an extract from the documentation. We used to say, OK, let's look for issues and give this thing another try!
And, we had a clear picture of the application, that showed us which objects needed to be covered. It was not something I came up with on my own though. I came from work as a coder, so having a clear understanding of how things work was much simpler.
I think that having been a coder in a company is good as you can understand how to write proper tests. It helps you identify bugs that are not covered by automated tools.
If you do not have much experience as a coder, you cannot expect to get a good understanding of how the product works.
How much do junior software testers make in the US?

Jun 24th 2025. We've all heard the jokes about people who are obsessed with money. However, if we really want to know how much people are paid for their work, we need to know what that work is worth. That means figuring out how many junior software testers there are in the US and how much they make.
Figure out how many junior testers there are in the US. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has a list of the fastest growing occupations in the US. In order, these are: Technician/engineer. Sales. Business adminstrator. Cook. Brickmason. Janitor. The number one fastest growing occupation in the US is actually the person who cleans our offices and houses. But, it turns out that there is a bit of a disconnect between what we think of as a janitor and what the BLS thinks of as one. If we look at the top 10 fast-growing occupations for the last 20 years, we can see that the top three are the same as the top three occupations in the list of fastest growing occupations.
If you do some research, you'll find that many of the other jobs that appear on the list are also in the top 10 fastest growing occupations, meaning that the BLS agrees that these are the top jobs in the country. The BLS defines a technician as someone who performs specialized duties which require a broad range of technical knowledge or skill. So, a junior software tester would not be a technician, but a junior software tester is certainly someone who is working at a computer and has knowledge of programming.
