When I search a video, for example the name of the game "The Secret of Santa Suits" (A short video from my Youtube account @jessfoster-vlogs) on VLC Media Player, there are several possible ways to search it. As I don't want to play the file I thought I could search for all of them, starting with : "A Secret of the. I looked it up and I think it's a title, i'm not sure what to expect as an output. Yes and no.

Can you see when a video was posted on YouTube? No. It doesn't appear on the search page of the site. You have to pull it up off of one of the embedded players, which is annoying but also pretty smart from Google's perspective.

It would be great if you could add keywords directly to your videos. Instead you have to make a playlist in the YouTube Videos section of the Google apps for iOS.

To me this feels like an Apple/Google rivalry more than Google trying to do away with YouTube. While I think the competition between Google Play and iTunes has brought on quite a few interesting changes in media distribution and discovery, I don't see why YouTube should be any different. Apple and Google don't get together and decide to compete against each other. The two companies compete and that is just how it is supposed to be. But, the new YouTube for iPhone app for iOS7 does look a bit out of place right now and feels less useful than YouTube for Android.

That depends on your perspective and the quality of the video playback interface. For example, in iOS6 the subscription screen was buried in the bottom right corner of the video playback screen. The playback UI didn't even let you know that you had a subscription. I don't know why this wasn't changed in iOS7 but I can see how it could be confusing to some people.

In iOS7 there is a dedicated video subscription button at the top of the screen that launches the subscription screen from the lock screen. It is definitely a step up from what you could have expected in iOS6 and I feel like the UI for this experience on iOS7 feels more intuitive than YouTube for Android.

You can subscribe from a video directly. It is just not intuitive to pull up from the lock screen. It is a good idea, but it takes a little more work to get to it.
