CAT6 is made of six individual twisted pairs which allow the speed to increase to 100M bps and is therefore useful in networks with a larger number of devices requiring high-speed internet. Typical Cat6 cables include 24 twisted pairs. What if I need double the speed? Why not go for Cat5e and get 10Gbps of bandwidth? We have seen some manufacturers put an extra pair in their Cat6 cable.

This means that while you're at the office, you will be able to leave your network protected.

I currently use the modem, router and a cable modem extender.
I only have one computer on at any given time. This is the computer that has the modem and router connected to it. I have a laptop connected to it via wireless. The other computer that I have is wireless only. I plan on putting a second router on there and using that as a backup. So the modem is connected to one router and the router connects to another. If you are planning on having wireless computers then I would think the modem/router would better for that. Am I missing anything?
You only need one modem/router if you don't need multiple devices using the same connection. It's better for you to separate the two if you do need to use two computers at once on the network.
I agree but I would have to say the moden/router combo would work just fine. The only difference would be with port forwarding if you wanted to host a game server one computer and play on another. But if I have a laptop that I might use just occasionally I would probably go for a modem/router combo. In my experience the modem/router combo never works as well as a single modem/router. My experience was the opposite with modems. I had a modem/router combo with a single wireline phone connection, my next modem/router combo had a phone line for modem and an Ethernet connection for router. And so on. Each time I needed a second modem, I'd get a second modem/router combo. In every case, the modems would work fine together and the routers wouldn't work together. And it was usually easy to tell which was which just by looking at them.
I never had a modem/router combo where both were working at the same time. If you're going to use this, I'd recommend getting a second modem/router combo rather than a single modem/router.

I have the AC1900 modem from Comcast, but the AC1900 modem can only do 150Mb of speed. Would I better off with a 300 Mbps modem? Should I wait for the new XFi or should I go with the AC1900? Is there any way to do this without buying a whole new wireless router? The reason I'm asking is because I don't want a new device. I want something cheap, easy to use, and effective (in terms of throughput and security). I don't need internet sharing or anything like that. Just browsing the web, connecting to a few laptops and maybe watching some Netflix. Also. I have about 100Mb Internet currently but I'm hoping for about 1Gbps once my project is complete. If you do not need LAN access or internet sharing, this would work fine. It was designed for this purpose. It should be able to give you 1Gbps throughput. There are other similar devices that claim to work in this same way.
If you do need the ability to share the internet or LAN bandwidth then you may find that a router-like system becomes necessary.
