Is Gen Digital a Chinese company?
One of the most frequently asked questions I get here at Gen Digital is something along the lines of: ?
I don't trust Chinese companies. Are you? My response is that it's simply a matter of being aware of the possibility of risk, given the nature of your trade. You can mitigate the possibility of risk by keeping an eye on what others are doing, and if not being careful not to take all kinds of products or services and trusting everything. Or, of course, you can just avoid trading with certain individuals and organizations.
If Gen Digital were a Chinese company, it would have to comply with all the rules, regulations and requirements that a Chinese company must comply with, but that doesn't mean that a company's owners live in China, speak Chinese and are Chinese citizens. Some people are naturally suspicious of any foreign company no matter where they are based out of concern that their trade partners might be using their goods and services to do harm to the nation. I suppose it may be a natural reaction at first, but such fears need to be put aside because otherwise you never trade internationally, and trade is the basis of any modern economy, be it for good or ill.
I'm confident that my company will continue to trade the usual range of products from various parts of the world, even though its head office is located in Beijing. I assure you that my business partners in Gen Digital are not doing anything that requires me to be concerned over any political influence, corruption, unfair business practices or espionage in regard to trades that we conduct.
I am confident that Gen Digital would never put its own interests ahead of the interest of our customers in trading any goods and services they offer. That should be apparent with our products and the way that our prices for most of the services we sell are set based on our cost of living in each part of the world.
You can have 100% confidence that any financial gain or loss on the part of Gen Digital will be passed to and taken from our customer base as part of our trading relationship. No one will try to pull a fast one and rip off our customers. The best way to protect yourself against ripoffs is to trade carefully and make sure that the supplier you are dealing with actually has the goods or services they advertise.
