I'm just trying to configure VPN with openvpn on my Ubuntu 16.

Why is NordVPN not working on Windows 10?

We recently posted about an issue with NordVPN on Windows 10 PCs, but many of you asked why it isn't working.

Here's what's happening.

Some users are reporting that the Windows 10 version of NordVPN doesn't work. It works fine on all other versions of Windows (even on Windows 7 and 8), but Windows 10 seems to have a bug.

It's an unfortunate issue because Windows 10 is the most popular operating system right now, so this bug will impact a lot of people. NordVPN doesn't support Windows 10 yet. A few weeks ago, we asked NordVPN whether they planned to support Windows 10. The company told us that they didn't have any plans to support the new operating system.

"We don't plan to support Windows 10. We are, however, monitoring their development and may update the app if there are any changes that we think will be useful to our users," a NordVPN representative told TF.

NordVPN has not released any new Windows 10 version. We've contacted the company about this issue, and they've told us that they're still using the last version of Windows that they supported. This means that there is no new version of the Windows 10 version of the NordVPN app. The company hasn't released anything new since July.

One of the main reasons for this is that the Windows 10 release date was delayed from the original planned release date. What can you do? For now, the best thing you can do is use the old version of the app until the company updates it. Hopefully, they'll eventually fix this issue soon.

UPDATE: NordVPN has now released a new version of the Windows 10 app. This version is the latest version of the app, so you don't have to download it manually. If you have an existing installation of the Windows 10 app, it will automatically update itself.

Why is NordVPN authentication not working?

I am using a dedicated server in Germany (which I control with a SSH key) and it has always been working fine. My ISP is T-Mobile Germany and they recently changed the way authentication takes place (see below). So, I can no longer login and it is preventing me from authenticating with NordVPN either.

I am using the v2.8.5 NordVPN for iOS so it is probably not the software that is causing my issue but instead on an ISP (not sure which one) that is now changing the way VPN servers need to be authenticated on their side and I have tried that on a couple VPN sites and was just having that same issue.

I also can't find any NordVPN forums. Their forum does not indicate there is an issue and they seem to be down right now as well, so I figured I would see what other people's experiences were.

Thanks! I had the exact same problem. I had tried setting up 2 devices with the exact same IP range, but that did not work out so well and it ended with me having to disconnect the first device completely.

Then it turned out that the second ip's assigned by the server was just too far away (in Germany it's like around 500 km away), ie the ping requests were too slow. For these cases I usually assign 2 static ip's to my account. I recommend to assign the lower address first as the upper address must be higher than the lower address (it's because of NAT for the connection to be setup correctly).
