Why does ExpressVPN not work anymore?

ExpressVPN stopped working on my Mac today and I had to go back to a much slower VPN service for all my Internet needs.

What gives? I use ExpressVPN mostly for watching TV shows and streaming video. As long as I am connected to the Internet and an external device (like a USB drive) is connected to my Mac, I can watch TV shows. In addition, I sometimes use the service to access websites with a slow, unencrypted connection.

But lately, I have found that I can't connect to ExpressVPN servers when my Mac is connected to WiFi and ExpressVPN says not available in the lower left corner of the top menu bar. I have noticed that ExpressVPN is not as fast as it was before. I believe that this has to do with the fact that I am using a MacBook Pro instead of an iMac. I also think the reason I can't access ExpressVPN anymore is that Apple has changed something in their operating system since the last time I used ExpressVPN.

After I tried resetting my router and turning off my AirPort Extreme to reset my modem, it still didn't work. I used to be able to watch movies, browse websites, and stream video using ExpressVPN just fine, but it seems like something has changed and I can no longer access it.

I have tried searching for a solution on the internet. The only results I found were from people who were unable to access ExpressVPN on their own Mac computers. One solution suggested using an older version of ExpressVPN on another operating system like Windows.

I don't want to do this because there is no guarantee that the newer version of ExpressVPN will work. It's like an experiment that is not worth the risk. I've tried it before. I can't remember how, but ExpressVPN stopped working and I had to go back to using a slower VPN service.

How did it happen? I have been using ExpressVPN on my Mac for about a year. It works well and I feel secure when I am using it. But for whatever reason, it hasn't been working as well as it was and I need to get it back up and running.

My problem was that I had set up a second computer for the first time this year.

What VPN service would work well with watching Netflix, Hulu, etc?

I don't want to pay for this stuff I just want to use it in a streaming type setting. All I need to do is be able to connect to the services without seeing my IP address and everything else I have set up with my VPN works as normal. I only want to go to Hulu and the VPN when I'm connected through my phone and I cannot find a VPN provider that's compatible. My problem has more to do with my VPN than Hulu as everything on my PC runs normally through my VPN. I can't for the life of me figure out how to connect my PC to Hulu if I do it through my phone. I'd like to be able to watch other movies and TV shows through my VPN but they also don't seem to work through Hulu and so far no one has been able to help me with this. Anyone have an idea?

Your VPN won't work at Hulu, and for good reason. Hulu controls the data itself in and out. You wouldn't like it if your ISP or VPN provider decided they were going to control the way data was sent between Hulu servers and your device.

But why not sign up for services such as Hulu and use a VPN on your smartphone, rather than your PC? This is probably the best solution to your problem, as all you do with your PC is use the VPN for those programs you want to access directly from the web, while still streaming Netflix, etc on your phone. You don't pay for Hulu, so you can't cancel it and switch VPN providers. So your VPN provider (in reality, the ISPs) wouldn't know who you really are. Just get another VPN service and you won't have the same problems.

They could allow free and subscription accounts. The subscription account couldn't be forced to log what site you're going to on Netflix or Amazon but could block any illegal content if requested and force you to pay for the service otherwise. Hulu would be pretty stupid to do that if they can't sell subscriptions, though.
