How do I setup a VPN connection?
I am able to successfully connect to our VPN and I can also edit the connection settings, all the way down to the server settings. However, whenever I click the 'Apply' button, it fails to connect with the error: An error occurred connecting to the server VPN. The VPN connection is currently not working. We apologize for any inconvenience.
To connect to a VPN, you will need to use the Network Panel to configure your network settings first. Enter the gateway IP and DNS for the VPN server. Enter the VPN username and password. Enter the VPN specific DNS, if required. Click "Create VPN". As soon as I click the apply button it fails. We also can not use the Control Panel to connect. It just does not connect. We are using Windows 10.
Thank you for any help. If you can provide the setup of your VPN please let me know. Thank you in advance. 49
Replies. I'm still digging into the control panel but I did find this helpful: The specific settings will depend on the VPN that you use. The way that the control panel works is essentially you are setting up the IP network mode that you have on your device. The control panel also allows you to set up a VPN using Policy-based networking if the VPN supports it. Perhaps yours does and the control panel just doesn't work for you.
As for the VPN settings, back up your control panel settings and then use the methods in the link above to set them manually. If you don't want to go through the effort of manually setting them then you might want to consider using a VPN software program that is capable of handling the settings for you. This can save a lot of time.
You can edit the network settings in the control panel but we ask that you back them up first. If you are using the open source VPN then you will be able to configure it to accept network connections from other clients.
