What is the best DNS server for low ping?
I am trying to use a DNS server.
Currently the two main options seem to be BIND or PowerDNS.
After configuring both with about a 6 second ping, I have had little problem with one and none with the other. I can't seem to find much on them that states their merits over another one. Can anyone make me a favor and help me out? The reason I ask is because I don't like using the built-in DNS server in windows.it will take up 20% of my CPU for a period of time. I believe it is causing all my other servers to run slower too, but who knows what it's doing behind the scenes?
Thanks. You could ask your friends how often they've ever had problems, and do a similar analysis. However, you can also look at some of the features to see which is better.
BIND is the old standby for several reasons: It's been around the longest, and has a ton of support, community, etc. It does everything you'd ever need it to do, and is easy to understand, use, and configure. Lots of people use it. PowerDNS is relatively new, from what I can tell. The main reason people are using PowerDNS is because: It's fast and has better performance (that's usually important in DNS). You'll need less bandwidth because of it's faster transfer. Because of the above, you'll spend less money for the same (or better) effect. It is possible that PowerDNS may outpace BIND in performance and/or speed. However, it's more difficult to use than BIND, especially if you're not familliar with it. There are some nice features in PowerDNS, such as the way it uses multiple cores and even lets you write DNS-based apps. There's also some additional features in BIND (that you can also get in PowerDNS), such as the ability to make your own DNS records. I used BIND for a while because my ISP had a DNS record blocking my websites, and once I switched to powerDNS, I had no such problems.
Which is better, 1.1 1.1 or 8.8 8.8 for gaming?
I have a 8.
8 screen on my PC, and I was wondering which is better, 1.1 or 8.8 for gaming. Is it better to have higher than 1.1 than to have lower?
Also, the screen is not the best one and the refresh rate is only 60Hz, but I'm not planning on doing any gaming on it. What's better for gaming? Better for gaming? Why does a graphics card matter for gaming? Because you don't want to have lower than 1.1 and get black bars.
Why is a refresh rate of 60hz important for gaming? Because your screen can't do 60hz at all, so if you're on a 60hz monitor, you can only have 60hz at a quarter of the screen width. This is because the human eye can't see much detail between 60 and 120hz. (Source). What is better for gaming? Depends on what kind of games you like. I prefer games that don't use a lot of resources so I choose games that use less than 1 GB of memory. However, this is just me.
The best gaming monitor is the one you like playing games on the most. If you like FPS games, you'll probably want the higher refresh rate. If you like RPG and strategy games, then you'll probably want the lower refresh rate.
I think he was asking about resolution, not refresh rate. And I think he was referring to games not using up much memory.
Is 1.1 1.1 still the fastest DNS?
Hi I am currently trying to optimise my DNS for the fastest possible response times.
0 - 10.255
@ IN NS ns1.home.org
@ IN NS ns2.org. Root. (
20101120101. 604800. 86400. 60
)
@ IN NS ns1.org IN A 195.23.4
Ns2.5 I am currently getting a response time of 13.8 seconds on average.
Can anyone tell me if this is good enough for my application? thanks. Mike. Answer Wiki.e. Your DNS server is good enough for your use. If you were going to do some sort of load testing on the servers, you could certainly improve it by adding additional servers and/or more advanced features.
Which DNS is fastest for PS4?
I know it's an open question, but I'd like to see the results of a real-world test.
Is there a way to download the files that are used for the PS4 live test? I'm not looking for a comparison of dns.ps4.local vs. Publicdns.org, or other sites like dnsdiary.
I know this is an open question, but I'd like to see the results of a real-world test. It's a pretty solid test actually. I just found it today, and I don't think it's really worth it, but if you really want to see the results of it I'd recommend looking into the results of their own test. Yea, it's a solid test. I think that it's also important to note that the people behind it are also pretty good about publishing it. That's one of the things that make it worth it.
The thing that I don't like about it is that they don't publish what DNS they use for the test. I'm just looking for a real world test that's as close to being identical to the live test as possible, and the test that I found is only for PS3.
If I had to guess I'd say that the local servers are using a local DNS server for the live test, and the public servers are using the public DNS servers.
