I am able to connect through the browser at the ip address but not through using the hotspot shield or my personal connection and I cannot figure out what I'm missing.

I have done the following: In the Network panel in Hotspot shield I had it connected to the ip address of my router. After I changed this to the router's external ip address, and added it to a rule in the firewall.

I changed the default router ip address under Preferences->Hosted connections->General tab and set it to the router's external ip address and then tried to connect again. I tried running the hotspot shield with admin rights and it doesn't work with admin rights either. Does anyone know how to fix this issue? Try turning off all the security on your router. I bought it a while ago now and just used it for one month to be able to connect to Netflix which I only used like every other day. I was so excited when I tried watching a movie online (it got stuck on the loading screen) and it worked so great for 5-7 minutes before I encountered the problem again. I tried restarting and that didn't seem to help at all, and a couple days later the exact same thing happened on another one of my family members devices using the app. I've looked all around Google and YouTube but haven't found anything helpful or even anything that seemed interesting, maybe someone here can point me in the right direction. It works fine on my phone and tablet but it doesn't work at all on our TV with the Apple TV app (I've tried rebooting it as well as connecting wirelessly from my iPad).
