How do I find my local IP address?
Go to.
Then enter the IP address of your router in the search box. It will list all the subnets connected to that router.
How do I find the subnet address of my ISP? If you're using a home modem, then go to. If you're using a managed internet connection, then go to. What is a CIDR block? A CIDR block is a range of IP addresses that your network uses. It's usually written as a range of numbers separated by periods, for example 192.168.1-192.254 or 192.
I'm using a managed internet connection and it says I'm connected to a LAN but I don't have a LAN! The problem here is that the ISP doesn't know what the IP address of your router is. You'll need to go into the admin panel of your router and tell it your external IP address. Then, after that, your router will be able to access the internet.
Why can't I access the internet through my router? It could be that your router has a firewall in place to protect itself from hackers. You can tell your router to allow connections from outside by going to the admin panel of your router, and then selecting the 'Firewall' tab. If you need help finding your router's admin panel, then just look it up online.
Can I connect to my router via Ethernet cable rather than wifi? Yes, you can. Just plug the Ethernet cable from your laptop to your router and turn on the router. Your laptop should automatically connect to your router and you can access your router's admin panel from there.
How do I change the password for my router? Your router's admin panel should have a 'Change Password' section in it. What is a DMZ and why do I need it? A DMZ is a sort of "security island" where you can make your router the gateway for the internet.
Where is my IP location on my phone?
I'm having trouble with my IP address.
I have an Amazon Echo and the default IP address it gives me is from New Jersey on my cell phone. I don't understand this and am going nuts. Even if I enter the IP address in their router and see what I get, it's incorrect. It seems to be changing daily but I'm in the same spot. The only thing to make me think I should get a new IP address is when it's in California, I get another IP address. But, then I go to my computer and its the same thing as well. Please help!
I checked my IP address in my router and it isn't the same that I see on my cell phone. I have also used their tool where you enter in your IP address and they will tell you where you are on the map. They have a lot of cities where the data is good. What is going on?
What is the problem? I have a feeling you need a static IP from a router or a service that has a static IP. If you were in one of these cities, Amazon gave you the wrong one. Amazon is an AWS thing.
Edit - What city are you in? Maybe they changed the default location somewhere. Or maybe you are in some other country that has a different router or something.
I live in Texas. Why are there different IP addresses for me on my phone depending on the city? It happens on an Amazom Echo and my computer. When it's in Texas, I get one; when it's in Calif it is always from Cali.e. When I enter the IP addresses manually into my network tools it's just from a random area. So, can someone please tell me how I can find the proper IP address for where I am? I'm tired of running around trying to figure it out. This is a common problem?
Do cell phones have an IP address?
An IP address is a unique string of numbers used to describe the location of a computer on the Internet.
Each IP address is allocated to a single computer by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) which has to approve every request for an IP address from a new computer or network. There are four types of IP addresses, each with a corresponding number:
IPv4 addresses are in the form B.C.D. These are subdivided into four sub-blocks of numbers which together represent the total range of IP addresses that can be issued:
The number A represents the number of possible addresses between 0 and 2-4, ie there are up to 256 possible IP addresses for each number from 0 to 255. The number B represents the number of possible addresses between 0 and 2-8, ie there are up to 65,536 possible IP addresses for each number from 0 to 65535. The number C represents the number of possible addresses between 0 and 2-16, ie there are up to 4,294,967,296 possible IP addresses for each number from 0 to 4294959,295. The number D represents the number of possible addresses between 0 and 2-32, ie there are up to 3,839,738,372,906,847,616 possible IP addresses for each number from 0 to 3,839,738,372,908,534,854,432. Every Internet Protocol (IP) address begins with 0x0A and includes the dot-separated four-octet Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) address, eg 192.168. Each octet in an IPv4 address may be one of 0, 1, 2, or 3. An octet is represented as a decimal number (for example, 8 in the decimal system).
Example: In the above example, the IP address of 192.1 could be written in three ways:
