To understand that, the first task is to understand how inputs are made.

The first input is: what has an audience say something about a project or piece of work? Audience comes in two flavours. The people we care about and 2. The professionals who have professional responsibility.

Both come under the wider category of what in the industry is called 'customer review'. In simple terms, Customer Review refers to our work on customer approval or disapproval, or maybe a recommendation for changes (often referred to as 'change management'). It could be that the professional we report to, or even those with legal responsibility such as insurance companies, banks and governments also carry out their own type of Customer Reviews, but if you want to improve your project the focus of your thinking should be more narrowly on the type of customer we care about, their role and responsibilities (for the time being).

So we often think in terms of these two types of audiences. If you don't yet understand them, let's look at them.

THE FIRST: A CUSTOMER WITH RESPONSIBILITIES WHAT IS THEIR ROLE? Firstly, what exactly is the role of the person doing the customer review? Most will probably agree that in order to do the job as well as possible, or better still to do it absolutely perfectly there must be interaction between the professional and the customer. That doesn't necessarily mean it is required. It would not normally be expected, that is, unless there was a serious problem with how the project was being carried out, because in which case the role of the professional would be, you guessed it customer reviewer!

So it would be rare that any type of customer feedback on any kind of public communication should ever occur, unless: there was a serious problem where there could potentially be negative outcome. You are a good example of how that might happen. I heard a speaker who was talking about one client, that had decided they didn't like the work that you did, although they never stated that publicly to my recollection. They chose instead to give you a very public call out and the whole work team heard them. Well that was embarrassing and it must have been hard for you.

A few days ago I was told that it is not possible to find a mathematical expression for a function that is given an integer input and output a double number. I have asked several people, and each of them have given me a different answer (the one's that didn't use any form of math, which was mostly). 1) This is not possible to find an expression using only multiplication, addition and subtraction. 2) The expression can be found if you know the inputs and outputs. 3) It's impossible to find the answer, unless you know the inputs and outputs. 4) It is impossible to find the expression, as we don't know the inputs and outputs. In all the above cases the person is thinking of an expression with integer inputs and double outputs. The problem is that they are all very ambiguous. The last statement clearly means "You will never be able to find the expression". It doesn't mean that they can't find it if they knew the inputs and outputs.

I think that when asking for an expression the answers should be more precise, ie "There is no such expression" or "It is possible to find the expression" etc. Does anyone have a clear definition of "input-output"? The expression is an input and output. For example: a(b(c)). B(c(d)). A(d(b)). C(b(a)). C(a(d)). D(b(c)). I think that we should be able to define this in a simple way (although it's not an easy thing). A function is "input-output" iff You enter an input and the function will output something. Then, you ask for another input and the function will give you a new output. Let's say that an expression is an input-output function.

It's not just a question of making sure your components work in the correct mode, and that their interconnections are correct. I have seen some books, articles and websites that list input and output examples - an idea which seems somewhat strange, to me.

One such example was in The Art of Electronics, by Horowitz and Hill: If any input is grounded, or if its ground reference is not connected to anything, it acts as a short circuit from the inputs of all other circuits. For example, if we connect a 5 V supply voltage directly to pin #1 of a NAND gate and leave pin #2 floating, it acts as a short circuit for that circuit. That means it will drive pin #2 to the same voltage as pin #1, since we have no pullup resistor on pin #2, and that voltage is 5 V. (Of course, you must use high-value resistors to prevent burning out the CMOS transistor that drives the input.) This is the type of short circuit that people want to avoid.

It's common knowledge that a gate-to-source short circuit on a device changes its gate voltage to its source voltage. The gate voltage of a NMOS transistor that is in saturation is more than 20 V, and its source voltage is more than a few volts. A gate-to-source short circuit will turn on the transistor and can therefore destroy a device, or make it unstable. The reason it's bad to have a gate-to-source short circuit on an input is because it will drive the output to the same voltage as the input. If pin #1 is 1 V and pin #2 is 4 V, then pin #1 will be 1 V, which is bad. So, you want the input voltage to be larger than your maximum expected output voltage.

But that doesn't address the larger issue. You need to understand how the inputs function in your system. If you look at a datasheet for a system which has three inputs, with two outputs, you might see things like this: In this datasheet, you can see a lot of information. You know which pin is the input, which pins are the outputs, and how those outputs will work.
