How do I track a family member on Google Maps?
A user can easily track a person or a company on Google Maps, so this will probably come as no surprise, but many don't realize that Google provides a very simple and easy way to do it.
Here is how you do it: Log-in to your GMAIL account. You can use this feature with only one person, so if your tracking someone's movements in real time, just add their gmail address as me. You can also use Google Maps to see detailed location info for an individual or a company. You can simply enter their gmail name, or their business's gmail address if you know it. The resulting page will be very helpful in giving detailed info.
We have noticed that it also works for people who have already added their phone number, either by entering it manually, or from Gmail. But you must include an @ symbol before the first number. Otherwise it will not work.
If you've added your friends' gmail names to your Contacts, then you don't have to type their full names to find them. Just enter their short gmail name and this will pull up their profile. But there's still an option to look for their full name, however you can only find them based on their gmail address, not their name.
When adding anyone to Contacts, you can type their full name as well. This is much faster than typing their full gmail address, since it will search their full name, and then pull up contacts based on a matching search. If you wish to search just a single email address, just enter the correct name.
How does Google Maps recognize a phone number in an address? When Google maps detects a text phone number at an address, it searches it like any other gmail name, and pulls up that person's profile, contact list or contacts.
How do I share a live route on Google Maps?
After a few weeks of learning about the new Google Maps and Android Studio, I have finally got some work done and made it live on Google Maps.
The first version is pretty much the same as the screenshot below. I have not included the share button in the screenshot because I don't know how to share it there yet.
So far, I have: Added a Street View button to the bottom of the map. Added a Route button to the top-right corner. Added a Directions button to the top-left corner. Added a Get Directions button on the bottom-left corner. There are a few issues with this, the biggest being that the markers don't have any kind of icon beside them, and the directions on the bottom-right corner don't work (at least I couldn't figure it out how to do it). There are also some minor styling issues.
All of the items on the top-right corner need to be visible all the time, not just when the route is selected. That's why the text Route is always visible.
The bottom-left Get Directions button needs to be hidden when there is no route selected. I am still working on it and will eventually add the share button. But the good news is that I now have a good working prototype of what Google Maps should look like. I will soon update this blog post to reflect this, but I have already posted a video of the prototype at the end of this post.
Google Maps is pretty simple to get started with. The easiest way to do it is to use the Maps Android API Demos which you can download from the Android developer site.
Download the API demo files and unzip them into your workspace. Then, import the file MapsDemos.java into your current Android Studio project. If you are getting errors, make sure you set your Android SDK build target to API 16 (Android 4.4).
You also need to set up the Google Play Services library.
How do I turn on live location on Google?
If you are searching for the google location settings then you are right here. You have searched so much for it, but how do you actually find the answer to that question? Well, you can simply make your search in that direction. The question is, you really have to get a search string to be as specific as possible because you will only get one hit. But not only that, there is something else that is going to come up for you too. That is the turn on location in a different way.
So how do you find the turn on location on Google Search? You can use many keywords for a search to find anything on the web. But it is important that you choose the keywords that you are supposed to get the results that you have been looking for.
So let's take some examples. Here is an example of an example. The keyword here is live, which shows you the results that live means. When you run a search with the keyword live you will only get the following result.
So you are done and done with that search. The next example is when you will search for location. You will get no results back. There is no result.
Now let's do another example. This time we will search for location turn on google. Now we will only get one result back.
