VPN stands for Virtual Private Network and allows you to connect to servers and services which otherwise would be inaccessible to you. While some people simply use this for security reasons and privacy protection, it is actually also used to bypass censorship, geo-blocks, etc.
The following article is to help you if you experience problems with installing a VPN service, like I did when I installed OpenVPN. I wanted to use it to connect to Wikipedia. If you do not know how to install VPNs, you might want to first go through the How to set up your own VPN tutorial to familiarize yourself with VPNs.
First of all, what are some of the more common mistakes you might encounter? What happens if my VPN is not working? If you connect to a server over your VPN connection and it does not work properly and you cannot even connect, then you might have one or several problems: Your software might not support the type of encryption or security you wanted to use (ie AES 256 bits encryption). Your settings might not be compatible with the server. There are other things that could cause your problem, but none of these should cause you trouble while installing a VPN. What if the server has problems? It might just have a problem at the moment that you try to connect, you might be too late to connect and the connection might be disconnected before you get through all security settings, etc. You can tell whether you can connect to the server you want to connect to. If you see 'Connection failed', your VPN connection was rejected.
What happens if my VPN is not installed? You need the VPN software installed and connected. You can install it from the Ubuntu Software Center, or a manual method explained in this tutorial. I was having problems with installing the VPN service manually. When I tried to install the OpenVPN software, I got the following error. Sudo apt-get install openvpn. Reading package lists.

Why is PureVPN not working?
The reason for this is that many VPN providers use IP-based blocking by default for their servers.
Even if the IP blocking is switched off, we still get in trouble with the blocks of major websites such as Google or Facebook. We have written several times how it is not possible to circumvent any website block.
However, now there is a way to circumvent any content or website blocking. It's all about our server list. If we want to circumvent a block, we need to be connected via our server that bypasses the block. For us, that means that the connection runs via our PureVPN servers. As we don't want the websites to recognize our server from the internet, we are not going to list our servers here.
Why are VPNs not working in Canada and Australia? This happens when our VPN servers for North America / South America or Europe / Israel / Africa do not use any VPN traffic routing. They just connect you directly to your chosen server. Our VPN servers for Asia, New Zealand, or South America do route all VPN traffic via the VPN server so that they do not get to know which address you are on.
How do I find the right PureVPN server for me? You find out which PureVPN server you need to use by clicking on a country from the world map in your PureVPN software. You will see All regions. On the right you will see North America / South America. This is where you have to click to choose the region. This is easy as it works only on countries. After clicking, you will see how many of the PureVPN servers support bypass. In our example, you can see three servers with the option Bypass: one in Florida (USA), one in Illinois (USA) and one in California (USA).
If you don't find your country there, click on the box United States of America at the top of the world map. To find the region where you live, please look at the country name listed below. If you live in Canada or Australia, then choose your Region: We hope this guide helps you!
How do I download PureVPN?
PureVPN has been an amazing app, even after 3 years of its release.
And this is why it won the 2024 VPN User Choice Awards. The app has been in the Top 10 list of every app-store for a very long time. It is not that new, though! And many other VPN apps are available in the app stores, but PureVPN has stood out. It just works!
This article will guide you step-by-step on how to download PureVPN on different platforms: iOS, Android, and Windows/Linux. Note: If you don't have a credit card or any way to pay for your vpn subscription, then please check out the VPN Master. They offer free one-month unlimited downloads for free users.
To find out more about PureVPN, click here to visit the official website of PureVPN. So, I am gonna leave the most important parts to here. Read them to get the best experience when you download PureVPN.
Pair Your Device with PureVPN App. When you download PureVPN on a device, it will ask you to pair it via Bluetooth. So, just make sure that both your devices have Bluetooth enabled. If you get the same message on both your devices, then it's already paired up. After the pairing, the devices will appear on the same network with each other. But, I would still recommend not to be inside home when it happens.
You can always go back into setting and uncheck the option for 'Allow Device to Join WiFi Network'. It may ask you to pair again. Just remember to uncheck that option so that you don't confuse PureVPN app again.
Select a Server from PureVPN's Servers Tab. After pairing, select the desired server. By default, it will always choose Netherlands location servers if it is set to any country. You may choose any server in any available countries around you. Just look for the address to pick it up.
For example, from India (where I am living) the server address will be as follows: PureVPN Address: 18.12.0/24
PureVPN Server Name: IND-PTR. PureVPN Country: India. If you wish to change location from Netherlands, then type the correct address.
