Can I view an IP camera on my phone?

I have a camera on a network which is connected to a switch.

I have a laptop and an Android phone connected to the switch, both using wifi.e. When I plug my android phone in a wall outlet (directly), it gets a very short 3-5 seconds of connectivity before dropping. But when I connect it to my laptop using usb, everything works fine.

Is there any way that I can make my android phone view this camera? Do I have to do any special configuration of the phone's firewall? Or is there some other way I can use the camera without having internet connectivity? Just bought a nikon hd1000 video camera for the purpose of recording myself and family.

I also want to be able to record my daughters room at night, but my laptop is about 10 feet from her bedroom. I don't want to use the laptop as a camera just because it's too far away from the camera. Does anyone have any suggestions for a software that would let me be able to see her on my computer screen while I am recording her room at night? If I need to buy software what do you recommend?

If you are able to view your webcam in the same program that you are recording, then the easiest way to get this done is to find a program that will allow you to "mirror" the camera. This is when a program will take a picture and send it to a different program, so that you can watch it on your computer screen.

However, if you need to be able to see the cam on your computer screen from another computer, there is no program that will do this. The only way to do this is to get the camera plugged into your computer via a USB cable. Then you can view the cam from any computer you wish.

You can use an external web cam for this as well, but they are not as good as a USB camera. I have the HP DV2000 laptop and I use the free version of windows live messenger to view my camera. It works great. I put a small wireless adapter card in the laptop and it works very well. I use the camera and record myself and my daughters.

What do you mean by "view"? You mean you want to see what is being recorded on the webcam on the PC that the camera is connected to?
