How do you find input from output?

As a musician, I listen to hundreds of hours of music each year, then play and record the parts that I like.

I know I don't have much chance to hear new material in the future, but I try to write the best stuff I can find.

Let me count the ways! I get feedback from my friends (and others) either asking what they liked or responding to suggestions. I also listen to friends when they sing or play their instruments and take what they offer as well. And of course, I listen to every piece of music I'm playing or singing when I'm working on a new song. It would be pretty hard if there was only one way to find input from output. And I do take advice, of course. There's no point in writing something that you know will be bad, so sometimes I'll ask myself Is this something I can hear myself playing?

Do you have any favorite books, podcasts, or documentaries? Well, I guess my favorite book is The Power of Myth by Joseph Campbell. It's about mythology, culture, and transformation.

My favorite podcast is The Tim Ferriss Show with Jason Silva. He interviews experts, and they explain stuff you wouldn't know otherwise. But you get it in a way that's easily digestible. The book by Tim Ferris, 4-Hour Workweek, is another good book.

My favorite documentary is The Queen. What movie are you currently obsessed with? Well, I saw The Greatest Showman last weekend. I watched it with a friend who's an expert on the subject. We both learned a lot. The thing I liked most is how the show dealt with the history of what we now call modern day and what was once called modern day.

What's a song that means a lot to you? I don't think I have one particular song that means a lot to me. What's your favorite TV show? I love watching shows about history. That's part of what inspired me to start my blog. I love seeing how things came together. I was surprised to learn that Netflix has quite a number of good shows and documentaries about history.
