The only question which is slightly different is - 1. I can test anything or 2. I can't really test anything. So, if you have positive answer to that question you can get a bit confused as it seems a wrong scale. Very often we get asked these questions and the answer is mostly 9/10. Not sure if I would score more than 1 or 2. If you didn't check out the REVIEWS of some of the books you had to read last time. Then you must be able to answer this. In my case - 1. Vibrant Responsive websites : This is an excellent book. It will give you 8 different strategies if you want to improve usability of websites. You will also learn abut mobile first approach. Now, I am just waiting for the book writers to write similar stuff about mobile apps.

Sure, I would definitely score that. My favorite book. Visual Basic 2023 Erich Gamma, Robert C. Martin. A very good book. I use to read this book before going to work. Even if you don't know VB, you can still benefit from this book. A well written book. Laid back approach to making changes. Don't try to look smart when you read. Just try to absorb the knowledge. The notes are better than the book there is no doubt. If you are planning to become an automation lead/automation engineer then this is a must read for you. I wouldn't suggest this to just anybody. Recommend to you people who are already practicing automation.

Is Selenium testing tough?

I understand why we must be concerned in writing and maintaining good selenium tests. But I would like to hear things on hard or hard to achieve factors. I will definetely give a try on this method and success it benifits instead of post-rationalizing an existing noisy suite. What can be tested automatically using Selenium?

In order to test users the testing is done by considering 2 type of tests: functional and non-functional. It means we want to know whether the website works as expected or not.

But somehow if a website is old the functional test might not pass due to some change in design or code. In that case we would need to go for non-functional tests and what we want to test is whether the website will open or not on the browsers such as IE, Chrome, Safari etc. Even though its functionality is not worked at the moment.

It can because the website was developed using different technologies and a lot of JavaScript magic was used. Even Google now tend to use this technique because its much faster than the other techniques they used eg, Python Robots, Python spiders.

But still there are many useful websites which do not work properly on some browsers. For example when you enter any website like Gmail you will observe many error messages like This website is not available .

There are generally 3 ways to make your web page work properly on all browsers: 1) You can manually alter the CSS of a web page/. 2) You can update the links of the internet (social sharing sites, web feeds etc) or. 3) You can introduce an advertisement tool using Mozilla's addons kit called Firefox Add-ons. I have described each method briefly below: #1. What is Selenium used for in testing?

The short answer is: to make sure the application works. The longer answer is: to make sure the application works like it should. This usually means that the application has to do something and it has to do it in an expected way. The Selenium tests are there to make sure the application does what it should do.

What can I test with Selenium? That depends on your application. If you have a form-based application then that's the way you should test it, that's what the other developers of the application wrote it for.

But if you have an application that is non-form-based - meaning it doesn't use HTML forms - then any of the UI code you wrote could be reused by unrelated code, so you could reuse some of your Selenium tests to check that working properly. Can I test automated functionalities with Selenium? You can definitely do that. But that's not as easy as using the automation tools available form-based applications.

Why do we need Selenium to test automated functionalities? Well, the web browsers don't have native support for executing JavaScript or running any of the more advanced programming languages, so there must be a solution to test that functionality. Because no one would think of testing such things manually, right? And if that's the case then there must be a way to automate it, so where there's a will, there's a way, right? The solution is Selenium: it uses a programming language called Selenium WebDriver, which is essentially a browser built-in for executing JavaScript. And yes, this means Selenium can be used to test automated functionalities, like making sure a page loads, or that it loads quickly, etc It even has a command-line tool for testing things like AJAX requests, form validation, etc. So what are the drawbacks of using Selenium for automated functionalities? Whenever you use any tool, the tool itself has it's own drawbacks. The fact that Selenium is a programming language, doesn't mean you have to learn programming to use it. Even the most common of the other tools require some basic knowledge, but Selenium is clearly not as daunting as that.
