How do I extract a saved Wi-Fi password?

I already have the saved wpasupplicant.

Conf, I am using a custom Linux image based on Debian 8.0 Jessie. I know there is a tool called wpagui.e. It's in the repository.

I tried wpagui and wpapassphrase -e and none of them are working. I have the saved wpasupplicant.conf, I can run wpapassphrase -e but it needs the WPA/WPA2 passphrase in clear text, not hex or binary. My problem is that I need to access a Wi-Fi network using my custom image, and they usually use WPA2 but I don't have the WPA/WPA2 passphrase in clear text. I do not want to run wpapassphrase -e to get it.

I'm using a 3g iPod touch. Re: There is no need for an app. It's really very easy - go to www.wi-fi-info.org and have a look. You can connect to any of the WEP enabled unsecured networks around, and see the networks it can see (as they are listed on that page).

You can of course look in Settings -> General -> Wireless Networks, but that only lists your personal networks (WPA/WPA2) - and will not show if they were secured with WPA or WPA2. If you haven't secured your home network with WPA, then go ahead and add the Network name and Password as shown (I suggest changing them when you can), then restart the Wi-Fi router. If you have a password to add in WPA/WPA2 mode, do that instead of changing the WiFi name.
