Why did Spock and T pring break up?

What is the relationship between Spock and T pring?

We know, through various Star Trek canon works, that the relationship between Spock and Kirk was initially extremely strained.

The original series shows that this tension began when Kirk's daughter, Katherine, who is played by young Antonia Nicholas "Tova" Crossman (I believe Crossman is the daughter of director John Crossman) begins dating Kirk's assistant, Gary Mitchell, played by Michael Ansara. This is how we begin to see T Pring's first appearance on the show. As the series proceeds, the tension between the characters slowly subsides until the series finale, "Turnabout Intruder", in which Spock tells Kirk his life story and they become best friends once again.

This may seem like a long-winded answer, but I hope it provided some clarification!

Why did Spock and T pring break up?

The classic "girl meets guy, girl ditches guy" plot goes one of two ways.

She's either too much into her work (and her new flame doesn't quite cut it) or she finds some other flaw in the boy something he didn't appreciate enough before the sex change that makes them incompatible. Both are valid. But most viewers have no problem reconciling the new Spock with the old Spock; they can make a connection. With the breakup of T pring, the two lovers were essentially in opposite roles as Star Trek characters: while T. J. Played a role Spock could never dream of filling, Captain Spock was a character Kirk would never try to steal. So why, then, did the couple decide to split?

It is impossible to understand this breakup within the framework of the original series, or even within the new series. And yet, this story really only works if it has some connection to Spock from the original. It begins with Spock and T pring being involved in a car accident that sends one out of commission. After a visit to Dr. McCoy, the Vulcan becomes uncharacteristically anxious about returning to his ship. Then he meets Captain Kirk. He is instantly captivated by him and begins to tell Kirk his side of the story (this time being a real boy with a real name: David Leibowitz). Kirk isn't buying any of it.

"How do you explain your feelings?" asks the man who has been telling us all this story for four years. "I don't know," replies Captain Kirk in full-on Captain Kirk mode.

That's an exact quote, I assure you. When were writing a draft script for the episode, it was my brother, Dan Lohner, who gave me that line. I thought it was great, and so it came back into use even though no one realized that we'd used it. It fit perfectly the story were trying to tell: a man who believes that he has been cheated on by his ex girlfriend is forced to reevaluate everything he had ever thought about himself and his place in the universe. How do you come to terms with your own feelings? This is what Spock must have been asking when he said, "I don't know." But as soon as Kirk tells him that they are going to find out just how good or bad he is, something happens.

Do Spock and T pring get married?

The first question I am asked when someone finds out I'm a Star Trek geek is: Did Spock and T pring get married?

It's a question that is usually followed by an expression of surprise, and a lot of head-scratching. Well, I always thought they were a couple. But I never actually saw them kiss.

I know it's a question that some people find irritating, and I understand why. So why is it that when I was a kid I was so taken with the idea that Spock and T pring were a couple? And why did it seem like the most important thing in the whole wide universe to me? It's a question that I can't answer. I don't even know if I really believe it myself.

If I had to pick a reason why I thought Spock and T pring got married, I would probably have to say it's because I grew up in a house full of Star Trek fans. My childhood home was filled with Star Trek memorabilia. There was a model of the Starship Enterprise in my parents' bedroom. There was a model of the USS Enterprise in my room. There was a model of the Enterprise in my dad's office. There was a model of the Enterprise in my brother's room. There was a model of the Enterprise in my grandma's bedroom.

There was a lot of Star Trek memorabilia in my childhood home. When I was a kid, we didn't have much money. We didn't have a lot of TV channels either. So Star Trek was a big part of my childhood. It was a big part of my family's life.

Star Trek has a very specific kind of nostalgia. It's about a very specific time and place in history. It's about a place and a time when people believed that this was the way the future was going to be.

Star Trek is about what America used to be. For me, Star Trek was about optimism, about hope, and about the possibility of a better future. It was about the possibility of peace.

Star Trek was about the idea of the United Federation of Planets.

What is Spock's wife's name?

SPOCK: (NARRATING) The name Elizabeth. It's strange that I am so drawn to the woman I've never loved. It is the human side of me, I think.

It doesn't matter. Perhaps there is time for us.

When I return to Earth, her letters await me. From the Vulcan world of Remus.

I feel nothing when I receive them. Only my desire to meet her. SPOCK: (NARRATING) I've already told you, you're not ready. You're still too emotional about your mother, your ship, your crew.

I must continue training you, at least mentally. You are a child. You make childish decisions, which we have already seen.

Do you understand? This is true. Don't you understand yet? It is better to have an infant than an immature adult. And it is better to have no one in Starfleet than to rely on you. SILENCE, DUE TO STONE CREATURES (BANGING AT WINDOW). SGT. LOUIS ROTHENBERG RIGHT ON! HERE COMES A WHOPPER! JOHN WALSH. I HOPE HE POUNDS THEM GOOD! They've got 'em surrounded! (SILENCE). WALSH: Jesus. They went over the wall! ROTHENBERG: What are they doing? WALSH: That is a good question. We need to contact the captain.

They're making their way through the mines. Come on! LEADER OF SECOND WAVE. We must kill him! WALSH: Whoa! LEADER: We must kill him! WALSH: Shit! Who the hell is that guy? ROTHENBERG: Oh shit! Oh God, he's gonna drop one of us! THERE'S ABOUT ANOTHER TWO IN THERE! What the fuck are those guys? WALSH: These things are like the Viet Cong.
