How do I download spark Apache?
I tried looking at the Spark webpage, but found no way of downloading it. The website contains an icon saying "Apache" or something of the sort, but I did not find a way of getting to that part, where it has a download button. I downloaded spark 2.0.2 and I ran it like this: bin/spark-shell --class org.apache.SparkContext - master local
The problem is that I don't know if there is anything missing here or if I'm running in the wrong way. The website gives info about how to create and run jobs with it, but what I really need is a way to get to the Apache version of the same framework.
Thanks! You should be able to access the "Apache" in your Spark directory when you run it from an IDE or directly. Look for an instance of the jar on your disk after a Spark application runs. On the shell, you can just type %p
Can I use Apache Spark for free?
I am currently looking into Spark for some Machine Learning tasks that we need to do.
We'll be doing a lot of things, and I'm having a hard time finding information regarding what are the limitations for free version of Spark. Are there any? We want to use it locally on Linux machines without paying for anything (even if we're willing to pay for the service). Thanks for the help. Spark is free with unlimited data in a free usage tier. In the past that free usage was limited to 30G of data but the plan has changed so it's no longer limited by amount of data. They have an API for accessing their APIs which you could possibly integrate yourself or find a 3rd party to provide.

What is Apache Spark used for?
Apache Spark is a general purpose processing engine for data analytics.
It can be easily applied to analyze data from different sources and can handle large data volumes. The programming model of Apache Spark is designed around iterative computation and the data can be processed one line at a time. Data-set can be partitioned and parallelized. Spark is used mainly to perform data analytics for different types of data sets, which include: social network data, web analytics, log files, and machine data.
What are the different types of data? Data can be grouped in various types: structured (eg, a spreadsheet or database) or unstructured (for example, logs) and it also can be based on different characteristics such as numeric, non-numeric, streaming. Spark can process different types of data through different approaches including data mining, machine learning, and statistical analysis.
Spark can work with all types of data including relational, non-relational, stream data, and distributed data. In addition, Spark can be easily applied to Hadoop based distributed systems and Apache Hadoop ecosystem.
How to learn Spark? Learning Spark is very easy. Spark supports two modes: interactive mode, and standalone mode. We will show you how to install and start Spark interactive mode, then we will show you how to install and start Spark in standalone mode.
Installing Spark interactive mode: If you do not have a cluster manager, you need to start Spark manually via the spark-shell command. After starting Spark interactive mode, you can run queries against the local files on the machine. However, some Spark commands can only be run interactive mode. For example, spark-submit must be run interactive mode, which means that you cannot start a job interactive mode.apache.examples./examples/target/apache-spark-1.3.0-bin-hadoop2.7.tgz
An external cluster manager needs to be installed for this operation. In order to install a cluster manager on Windows, follow these steps:
