Is customer service representative hard?
I recently hired a customer service representative to handle my online orders and I'm having trouble finding good sites that train people for this position.
Some of the sites are geared more towards phone representatives, which I don't need.
Does anyone know of good resources for someone that is going to be doing online orders? If you are looking for someone who can answer all your questions about shipping and warranties, look elsewhere. For someone who will handle your questions about your order and process them promptly, look no further. I have worked with my rep for many years now and she has been with us since I first started out. She is great at what she does and I know I can rely on her to answer any question I may have about anything.
Customer service training is not needed in this industry unless you're in charge of a call center. You'll be answering the phones, taking orders, and directing people to an appropriate department for product support. Online orders are a low volume job. You will generally only answer questions once a day, maybe twice. If you want a better job, get into sales.
That's the problem. I'm not looking to be a sales person. I just want to answer questions when customers have them.
You are right. In fact, it is a customer service job. The customers just happen to have access to the internet.
If you have a good attitude, you can do this job well. It does not require any training at all.
If you want to start a career in customer service, ask yourself these questions: Do you enjoy interacting with people? Do you love helping people? Are you naturally curious about people? Do you enjoy talking to people? Can you listen to people? Are you patient? Can you work under pressure? Are you outgoing? Do you enjoy meeting new people? Can you deal with stress?

One of the first courses that can be taken in a consumer services program is the General Education, General Studies Course (GEGS). The GEGS course is very helpful, because it will give a student an overview of academic subjects like math, science, English, history, and art, and then links them to real world applications.
